Guro pub for charcoal BBQ chicken and soft-yolk egg rice: Monthly Beer
In short
Monthly Beer Guro Digital Complex Station Branch is a pub serving full dishes with drinks in Guro, Seoul, about 200m from Exit 2 of Gudi Station. On a weekday evening the writer ordered charcoal BBQ chicken (21,900 won), beef brisket and bean sprout stir-fry (16,900 won) and a 2,000 won bowl of rice topped with bacon and a soft-yolk egg, and also won a drink from the roulette event. The charcoal BBQ chicken at Monthly Beer is big enough for two people to share just one, and mixing the rice into its sauce was the standout combination.

Weekday evening atmosphere at Monthly Beer Gudi

I bet lots of people who work near Gudi come here for beer on weekdays~!

It was crowded, but maybe because it was a weekday, tables turned over pretty fast and we got seated without waiting.

It's the kind of place where once you're done eating you start thinking about who to bring next, haha. The Stella draft beer next to us looked so good >_<
Monthly Beer menu and the roulette event

Monthly Beer's menu is huge, so I couldn't photograph all of it. While we were looking at it, there was a roulette event, so we gave it a go~ It seems you get one spin per phone, haha. Nice. There are blanks, but it seems like you almost never land on one? I won a soft drink, and my friend Kanu won a bottled beer or soju. Wait, that's a total win.......??

You show it to the staff and they bring the drink, haha. We came through Supermembers, writing a blog post in exchange for a discount, so we skipped the bottled beer or soju prize and only took the one drink!!!
But when we paid, the owner told us Supermembers customers can't do the roulette event.. ㅠㅠ When we said we'd asked a staff member first, he grumbled a bit and only charged us for the extra amount.. sniff. Anyway, regular customers can all do the roulette event, so definitely go for it~~~!!! The win rate is good.
What we ordered and the prices

- Charcoal BBQ chicken ₩21,900
- Beef brisket bean sprout stir-fry ₩16,900
- Steamed rice ₩2,000
At Monthly Beer in Gudi the chicken looks tasty, the pasta looks tasty, the pizza looks tasty too, haha. Maybe because beer is in the name, other tables seemed to order lots of chicken. So we planned a pitcher of beer plus chicken and beer, pizza and beer, but we suddenly got tired and decided to just eat the anju (drinking snacks) and go!!!!
How are the portion and taste of the charcoal BBQ chicken?
The charcoal BBQ chicken (₩21,900) has a sweet, spicy, thick sauce, and the portion is so big that two people would be full with just one. I ordered it expecting a Jikoba (a Korean spicy chicken chain) vibe, but it's not Jikoba, it's a sweet, spicy, thick sauce!

It's chicken from a bar, so I thought the portion would be small, but it was big, what a surprise!!!!!!

One charcoal BBQ chicken alone would probably have filled us both up, wow. I ate it with no expectations, but the chicken is big, tender and tasty.

Bacon and a soft-yolk egg on ₩2,000 rice?
Monthly Beer's rice (₩2,000) isn't just plain rice: it came topped with a fried egg and bacon. The BBQ chicken also had rice cakes in it and we enjoyed it, but it's a little spicy, so I figured it would go well with rice and ordered one bowl. Whoa, amazing haha.. The kiosk menu image said steamed rice and showed a fried egg with bacon on top, and it was real!!

Look at that rice, totally amazing lol. With the soft-yolk egg on top, it's perfect for mixing with the BBQ sauce.

What kind of anju is the beef brisket bean sprout stir-fry?
The beef brisket bean sprout stir-fry (₩16,900) has katsuobushi (bonito flakes) in it, so it's a salty, savory beer snack. Between the rice and chicken I was getting full, but I couldn't skip the stir-fry~

Kanu had picked the beef brisket bean sprout stir-fry because she wanted it, but hadn't ordered it in case I wouldn't like it, lol. I told her I like it too and to order it haha. The katsuobushi makes it salty and savory.

It can taste salty once it cools, but if you're drinking draft beer, it's a good anju to pick at between sips, with the sprouts and beef. I wanted some heat, so I chewed the dried chili? inside the stir-fry, and it was so spicy I coughed, haha

How much should two people order?
If two of you go to Monthly Beer for beer, I think one meal-type anju is enough? The dessert menu has mango persimmon bingsu (shaved ice), Oreo chocolate bingsu, apple mango pine sherbet and more.. there are some really good-looking bingsu, which I like. I was thinking of finishing with injeolmi bingsu and bi bingsu, but suddenly got full, so we just had a cola to finish and left, haha
The cola from the roulette event was great~ It's a Coca-Cola with a soccer ball printed on it, fitting for World Cup season >.< The World Cup is on now, but it seems like not as many people care as before, which makes me sad..

Anyway, the free basic anju was also great, a mix of tasty things like Jjanggu snacks and chicken-drumstick crackers. That was Monthly Beer~ the end
