I was looking for somewhere to grab a drink with a friend near Guro Digital Complex and ended up at Eulji Pocha Guro Digital Complex Branch! This isn't just a regular pocha where you eat snacks and drink — there's actual stuff to play with too, so it was way more fun than I expected haha. The vibe really feels like a retro Eulji-ro alley bar, so if you're into that kind of retro atmosphere, you'll probably love it. It's good for office workers grabbing a drink after work, and also fine for a casual drink with friends or a group dinner :)

What is the atmosphere like at Eulji Pocha in Guro?

Walking in, you immediately get that retro pocha feel. The tables are pretty spacious too, so it looked fine for groups of several friends, and since it's near Guro Digital Complex, there were a lot of office workers stopping by for a drink after work.

When you're looking for a bar in Guro, it's honestly hard to find a place with both good food and good atmosphere, but this place felt just right for sitting comfortably and ordering a bunch of dishes to go with your drinks! So it seemed like a solid option for people looking for a group dinner spot in the Guro bar scene too.

Ordering dumpling egg soup and bite-sized meat-topped tofu

What we ordered was

• Dumpling egg soup (mul-mandu gyeran-tang)
• Tofu with meat bites (hanip-gogi dubu)

That's what we went with!

First, the dumpling egg soup looked piping hot just from the visuals alone, perfect as a drinking snack.

The broth was hot and the egg was softly whisked through, so one spoonful warms you right up!

The dumplings were nice and chewy too, so eating them with the broth was surprisingly filling. When you're drinking, having a soupy dish keeps you reaching for it over and over haha, exactly that type!

And the tofu with meat bites is a dish where you eat meat and tofu together — savory tofu topped with saltily seasoned meat, and eating them together in one bite made for a pretty good combo.

The tofu was mild, so eating it with the meat cut the greasiness, and it was the kind of flavor that kept me picking at it haha. Good pairing for drinking snacks, this combo was solid!

How the coins you get with your order at Eulji Pocha work

This was the most fun part of Eulji Pocha in Guro for me!! When you order a menu item, you get coins based on the order amount.

You can use these coins for the claw machine inside the store or various other events haha.

Suddenly felt like I walked into an arcade instead of a bar hahaha. Retro event-pocha vibes, thumbs up 👍🏻

We debated and then went for the claw machine — and no way!! Look what it dropped right into place on the first try!! Bring me my coins right now!!

Won a hairbrush in just two tries!! haha It got pulled out so fast I was actually startled for a second haha.

Playing claw machine with coins while drinking and actually winning something puts you in such a good mood for no reason 😂 Going with friends would probably bring out everyone's competitive streak haha.

Making your own cotton candy and dalgona with coins

And there were more things to do with the coins than I expected. You can make your own cotton candy or dalgona (honeycomb candy), and even take photos at a photo booth, so

having little things to do in between drinking was more fun than just sitting and drinking. Especially with a group of friends, it seems like a good way to pass the time going 'hey let's see who wins this haha.'

Having events like this at a bar definitely gives it a different feel from your typical pocha!

There's also a DJ booth, so music keeps playing and you can even request songs!!

They also ran a surprise game and gave out prizes haha.

Who should visit Eulji Pocha in Guro, Seoul?

What I realized after this visit is that Eulji Pocha in Guro feels less like a place where you just drink and more like a pocha where you can eat good snacks and have fun with friends. The dumpling egg soup was hot and filling, and the tofu with meat bites paired well with drinks too. Best of all, I played the claw machine with the coins from my order and won on the second try haha — that alone put me in a great mood 🤣
