Pork BBQ for a couple in Yeongjong: 500g for ₩42,000 at Hanmaeum

Yeongjong BBQ with both pork and beef: Hanmaeum Jeonguk Sikdang

I went out for a meal of meat with my husband for the first time in a while. Why have I been craving meat so much lately, hehe. Today we went to Hanmaeum Jeonguk Sikdang (한마음정육식당), a Sky City restaurant with a playroom where you can eat both pork belly and beef, one of the Yeongjong BBQ places.

Hanmaeum Jeonguk Sikdang Yeongjong Sky City Branch is at 13 Haneulbyeolbit-ro 65beon-gil, Yeongjong-gu, Incheon, in Units 202–205 on the 2nd floor of Sejin City. Hours are Monday–Thursday 15:30–23:00 and Friday–Sunday 11:30–23:00.

It's in the building next to Jinro Mart on the 2nd floor of Sejin City, and it's easy to find if you look for Dosigotgan on the 1st floor.

Take the elevator up to the 2nd floor and the restaurant is right there, with a playroom for kids across from it. I think this is the first time I've seen such a big playroom in a restaurant.

Is the inside spacious enough for groups?

The inside is really spacious and clean, big enough for group customers too. The seats on the other side are divided by partitions, so you can lean back and sit comfortably!

High chairs

As a Sky City restaurant with a playroom, Hanmaeum Jeonguk Sikdang has plenty of high chairs. Other places set out two or three, but since kids come here a lot because of the playroom, they have many more.

Playroom

You can watch the kids playing in the playroom on the TV and on the tablet at your table. The playroom facilities are really good, and lots of families were visiting.

While the meat comes out and cooks, the kids can go play, then come back and eat when it's ready, and the adults can check on them through the screen. I liked that.

What are the side dishes like?

The side dishes at this Yeongjong BBQ restaurant are varied: scallion salad (pa-chae), gungchae (stem lettuce), steamed egg, macaroni salad, green onion kimchi and more. Jjolmyeon (chewy wheat noodles) is hidden inside the scallion salad, so you can eat it alongside the meat.

What comes in the 500g half-pig set for ₩42,000?

We ordered the half-pig set (500g / ₩42,000). Last time we ordered the half-cow set and added more, but today I was craving pork ;)

The half-pig set comes with pork belly (samgyeopsal), five-layer pork belly (ogyeopsal), pork neck (moksal), hangjeongsal (pork jowl) and gabrisal (pork collar muscle). The set price is cheap, so it would be a good place to eat out.

The heat is strong, so the meat cooks quickly!

My husband cut it into bite-size pieces, and there were tongs at the self bar, so we brought them over and flipped the meat together.

The juicy pork was grilled nicely. There was lettuce for wraps, and the self bar also has pickled radish wraps (ssambu).

500g for the ₩40,000 range: was it good value?

The pork was thick and the portion was big, so we were full. We got to try it in different ways with the scallion salad, gungchae and jjolmyeon side dishes.

Normally 500g runs about ₩60,000, so getting it in the ₩40,000 range is a total bargain! (With a playroom too, there's no reason for people with kids not to come.)

Meal menu and doenjang stew refills

The meal menu includes mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth), bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles), sprout jjolmyeon, mom's fried rice, dad's doenjang rice and nurungji (scorched rice). But the doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) came out well and they even refilled it mid-meal, so we just ordered two bowls of rice to eat with it.

The rice portion was so big it surprised me. (Few restaurants give this much rice these days.)

A Yeongjong BBQ place where you can eat your fill, with both pork belly and beef. The kids can have fun in the playroom and leave happy, and the cheap prices were great too. That was Hanmaeum Jeonguk Sikdang. We ate really well. See you!
