Sejong sushi restaurant: beef brisket udon & sashimi bowl, Sushi Resto
In short
Sushi Resto (Sushi Resto Sejong Sodam Main Branch) is a sushi-focused Japanese restaurant in Sodam-dong, Sejong, popular with office workers and families. At Sushi Resto, the writer had the basic 10-piece sushi set (with the mini udon swapped for mini soba), beef brisket udon and a sashimi rice bowl. The sushi had just the right amount of rice, the udon came in a rich broth with plenty of brisket, and the sashimi rice bowl was loaded with vegetables and fish. Sushi Resto is a good Sodam-dong lunch spot when sushi alone isn't quite enough.

You know those days when you just want some clean, tidy sushi in Sejong's Sodam-dong? That day I was craving warm udon and sushi together, so I headed to Sushi Resto (스시레스토) in Sodam-dong :)

What is Sushi Resto Sodam like?
Sushi Resto is a sushi restaurant in Sodam-dong, Sejong, a neighborhood favorite with lots of nearby office workers and families.

The inside was clean and tidy overall, and the tables were spaced comfortably, so it was easy to eat in peace. It's also the kind of place where eating alone feels no pressure at all, which makes it just right for lunch!

What did I order at Sushi Resto?
That day I ordered the basic sushi set (10 pieces), beef brisket udon and a sashimi rice bowl. The basic set normally comes with mini udon, but I swapped it for mini soba haha.
There are easygoing options like basic and special sushi, plus single-type sushi such as salmon and shrimp, so you can order to your taste. For sides there were fried items like shrimp tempura and croquettes, nice for a light add-on.

How was the basic sushi set (10 pieces)?
The basic set at Sushi Resto has a simple lineup of flatfish, salmon, shrimp, egg, fried tofu pouch (inari) and more, easy to eat, and the rice wasn't strongly seasoned, which I liked. The sushi set came out first and it looked much neater than I expected, so I was happy! There was a nice variety, and each piece of fish had a decent thickness, so I was excited before even taking a bite.

The fish felt fresh, and the salmon sushi in particular had a soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture that I really enjoyed. Personally I liked that the rice portion wasn't too big. At some sushi places the rice is so much that you get tired of it quickly, but Sushi Resto had a good balance.

Is mini soba instead of mini udon a good swap?
I swapped the set's mini udon for mini soba, and its slightly sweet, cool broth went perfectly with the sushi. The noodles were springy, and the portion was surprisingly generous for something called "mini", so I was satisfied.
I even thought I was right to pick cold soba over warm udon haha. It suits this slightly warming weather even better!

Is the beef brisket udon filling?
The beef brisket udon (차돌우동) at Sushi Resto has plenty of thinly sliced brisket and a big portion, so it was really filling as a meal. It came out next, and the broth had a slightly nutty, smoky flavor, like a hint of char, and the generous brisket made me happy.

The udon noodles didn't go soggy and were chewy, and the broth was rich enough that I kept slurping it! The fatty richness of the brisket went really well with the broth. Above all, the portion was big and it was truly filling as a meal. I think it would be even better on a cold day or when you want something hot and spicy.

What's in the sashimi rice bowl?
The sashimi rice bowl (회덮밥) at Sushi Resto came with plenty of vegetables and raw fish, and mixing in the chili sauce (chojang) gave a nice balance. Of course I couldn't skip the sashimi rice bowl haha. The colors were so pretty that I took tons of photos first.
The fish had a fresh texture, and mixed with crunchy vegetables it was a truly great combo! It wasn't too spicy or harsh, so it was easy to eat, and the portion was quite generous. Eating it with sips of the udon broth in between was a really good pairing.

Is Sushi Resto a good lunch spot in Sodam-dong?
The food came out neatly and quickly, so I thought Sushi Resto would be a good lunch spot in Sodam-dong. The menu is varied too, so when sushi alone feels like not enough, adding udon or a rice bowl makes it even more satisfying!
Above all, the value for the price felt good, so it was easy to visit without worrying. If you're looking for a tidy sushi restaurant in Sodam-dong, Sushi Resto is worth a visit :) The sushi, udon and sashimi rice bowl were all tasty, and it was a satisfying meal haha.
