Korean BBQ near Olympic Park ending in haejang sulbap: Dangsan Odol

Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch is a charcoal Korean BBQ restaurant on Yangjaedae-ro 71-gil, between Bangi Station and Olympic Park in Songpa, Seoul. After a walk around Olympic Park, dinner at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch meant snowflake galbi and silk-mango pork neck over charcoal, slushy ice soju, and a bowl of haejang sulbap (hangover soup with rice) to close. The haejang sulbap tasted a little mild, but it rounded off the meal perfectly, and the juicy silk-mango pork neck was the standout order.

Hongdae restaurant in Seoul for fall-off-the-bone galbijjim: Anok

Anok is a gomtang (clear beef soup) and Pyeongyang naengmyeon restaurant on Hongik-ro in Mapo, Seoul, down an alley near Hongdae's main street. Lunch on a chilly day meant clear gomtang and Pyeongyang mul naengmyeon plus spicy kkorijjim (braised oxtail) and galbijjim (braised short ribs) that slipped right off the bone, with fat-free broth and a mild, gently meaty naengmyeon stock. The broth at Anok is clean enough that a small drink alongside it fits right in.
