Why I got an Ayunchae-only clinic before my next straightening perm

At Oreudeubi Sangwangsimni Station Branch, a hair salon in Wangsimni, I had only the Ayunchae clinic treatment, with no perm or dye. I'm someone who keeps repeating straightening perms (maeji) and set perms, and with another straightening perm coming up, my hair had gotten really dry and I could feel it tangling every time I brushed it, so I decided on a stand-alone clinic.

I went to Oreudeubi before meeting a friend. I've mostly had Milbon or Mucota clinics before, but I heard Ayunchae clinics are really popular lately, so this was my first time trying one!

Oreudeubi Sangwangsimni Station Branch is at 410 Wangsimni-ro, Centras Shopping Complex, Building i, 1F Unit 118, Seongdong-gu, Seoul. It's open daily 10:30–20:00 and you can book through Naver Reservation.

It's within a 5-minute walk of Sindang Station and Sangwangsimni Station, so public transport is easy. If you drive, parking in the Centras complex car park is covered for 2 hours. The salon is in the Centras complex, and it's easy to find if you look for the Tom N Toms Coffee.

Go in through the entrance and head straight, and you'll see it soon. Unit 118, Oreudeubi, the Wangsimni hair salon! The restrooms in the building are also roomy and clean, so I think a long treatment wouldn't be a worry.

Just like from the outside, the inside of Oreudeubi was tidy and open, not stuffy. There's Wi-Fi, and they offer drinks too, so the treatment time was enjoyable.

Oreudeubi Ayunchae clinic price and the 3 steps

I had booked ahead, so the consultation started right away. You can talk through your main hair concerns and the look you want, and if you've brought a style photo, you can mark it for an even smoother consultation.

The Oreudeubi Ayunchae clinic I had costs ₩150,000 (extra for hair length). Ayunchae products are apparently hot right now, and people say the clinic is really good too. As you can see, it goes in 3 steps.

Step 1: Shampoo in a massage chair, then the product sits

First comes a shampoo at the wash station, then the product is applied and left to sit, and for the first time ever I wished the waiting time were longer. The reason: the shampoo chair was a massage chair! At salons your neck can get uncomfortable, and lying back for a long time can be surprisingly tiring, but getting a shampoo in a comfy massage chair was a whole new world.

Step 2: A device helps the nutrients absorb

Next, after the product is applied, a device is used to get the nutrients soaking into the hair. Already my hair was so smooth, like wet seaweed, that I was startled. If you have curly hair you'll relate: that unattainable seaweed-smooth hair...!

During the long-hair clinic they also prepared a cold Americano and a variety of snacks. The Ayunchae clinic took about 1 hour, and that hour flew by.

Step 3: Adding heat with a flat iron

Then a flat iron adds more heat so the nutrients absorb well. I'd never had a clinic done this way, so it was fascinating.

Finally, the hair gets dried.

Before, my hair looked dry and frizzy just by looking at it... It's naturally curly, so if I don't style it, I can't get that sleek straight-hair smoothness, but after the clinic I found the light!

Just from a clinic, my hair feels much calmer! It's been about a week since the Ayunchae clinic, and the ends aren't tangling at all, and that's without a cut. Before, my hair was in such bad shape that it tangled even while shampooing.

Also, I didn't get that heavy feeling clinics usually leave in the hair at all. On this point it was much better than my previous Mucota and Milbon clinics.

Looking at my head shape and hair condition in person, they explained in detail where adding volume would work and how to style the bangs and side hair so they look natural. I'd only come for a clinic, but they brought it up while blow-drying, which I really appreciated.
