Retro cutlet house at Busan Station: icy soba set, Dal and Sixpence
In short
Gyeongyangsik Dal and Sixpence Main Branch is a retro Korean-style Western (gyeongyangsik) pork cutlet restaurant between Busan Station and Choryang Station in Dong-gu, Busan. On a weekday the writer arrived around 11:50 and found every table full, but fast turnover meant a quick seat; the writer had the soba set and the Cheese King pork cutlet, both served after a starter soup. Dal and Sixpence suits anyone near Busan Station who wants a nostalgic sweet-sauce pork cutlet and icy soba in one lunch.

Sometimes you just crave a retro-style pork cutlet (donkatsu) with a soft, sweet sauce, right? On those days I head to Dal and Sixpence near Busan Station. I loved the retro vibe and the generous portions, so I'd like to introduce it to you.

Where is Dal and Sixpence Main Branch, and what are the hours and parking?
Gyeongyangsik Dal and Sixpence Main Branch (경양식 달과6펜스 본점) is at 1F, 7-2 Jungang-daero 226beon-gil, Dong-gu, Busan, between Busan Station and Choryang Station. It is open 10:00–20:00 and closed every Sunday. Being between the two stations, it was easy to reach by public transport.

There is no dedicated parking lot, but I heard they cover ₩1,000 of parking for parties of two or more. I used a public lot nearby, and parking was a bit hard at lunchtime. I'd recommend public transport.

How long is the lunchtime wait near Busan Station?
I arrived around 11:50 on a weekday and every table was already taken, but turnover is fast, so I didn't wait long. I'd heard there are lots of offices nearby and a lunchtime wait, so I rushed a little, and it does seem to be a popular Busan Station lunch spot. Luckily the turnover is quick and I was seated soon.

Atmosphere and seating
The restaurant is bigger than I expected, with a cozy yet tidy 80s–90s feel. The tables are spaced generously, so you can chat comfortably without worrying about the people around you. There are plenty of tables too, so it should be fine for a group of friends.

Is it okay to go with a child?
There are high chairs. Since it's near Busan Station, I guess many people come on outings with kids or while waiting for a train, and it seemed set up so that eating with a child is easy.

The retro cutlet menu: what I ordered
This time I ordered the soba set and the Cheese King pork cutlet. Since it specializes in retro-style cutlet, the menu had plenty of variety. There were lots of options to suit your taste, and seasonal set menus too.

A retro course feel, starting with soup
Once you order, they bring out a smooth soup first. Its rich, mellow flavor was enough to whet the appetite. It felt like the nostalgic old Western-style restaurant course :)

The dishes all came out at once. Piled with sauce, they looked moist and tender just from the look of them.

How is the soba set? Cutlet and icy soba
The soba set comes with a retro cutlet and soba, a generous portion, and you get to taste the soba at the same time.

The crisply fried cutlet comes with a sweet, soft sauce, so it was great with that crunchy-outside, juicy-inside feel.

The meat itself is tender and goes well with the sauce, so you keep reaching for more. It's the taste of going to a retro-style restaurant with Mom after sports day as a kid, you know?

The soba had ice crystals floating in it, and the deep, rich broth blended well with the noodles. It was cool enough to make you forget the summer heat.

How much cheese is in the Cheese King cutlet?
As the name says, the Cheese King cutlet is thick with cheese, and every time you cut into it the cheese streams out.

The sweet sauce and the salty cheese go so well together that I cleaned the plate in no time.

Dal and Sixpence Main Branch as a Busan Station lunch: my verdict
The soba set and Cheese King cutlet at Dal and Sixpence Main Branch were more generous than they look, a hearty Busan Station lunch. The clean, warm atmosphere made it comfortable to eat, and the varied menu makes it easy whether you're solo or with friends or family.
