Dog pool near Seoul in Namyangju for a first swim: Gaeddae Playground

We went to Gaeddae Playground (개떼놀이터) 🐶 in Namyangju for our dog's very first swim, haha!

Gaeddae Playground hours and parking

Gaeddae Playground in Namyangju is open daily from 11:00 to 22:00, with parking and Naver reservations available 🫡 Small and medium dogs are welcome, and there's a dog pool in summer.

You can park in front of the shop and nearby! On weekends it's a popular Namyangju dog café and packed, so be aware that parking space is tight!!

Indoor photo zones and birthday parties at Gaeddae Playground

Step inside Gaeddae Playground and it's full of photo zones, haha! They say dog birthday parties are possible too! The inside is huge, wow. It was the weekend, so there was even a dog meetup group!

How much are entry and the pool at Gaeddae Playground?

Human entry at Gaeddae Playground is ₩6,000, but it's free if you order a meal ✨ Dogs get in free ❤️ Pool plus bath is ₩12,000, and ₩6,000 is taken off if you eat there, so keep that in mind! We paid entry + a drink + the pool.

They also sell dog treats and toys! With a meal, you can get a free fried egg too.

Dog pool depth and water quality

The dog pool at Gaeddae Playground is about calf-deep, and the water is really clean! It's nice and spacious too ⭐️

Running off-leash on the artificial turf dog park

The dog park at Gaeddae Playground is huge too. It's flat, so it's perfect for the pups to run around.

It's covered in artificial turf, so it's great for the babies to run around, haha

Maybe because it was the weekend, there were lots of doggy friends, haha. Literally a pack ~ playground (the name means "dog pack playground")

The biggest plus of Gaeddae Playground is, of course, the big space! Dogs can run freely off-leash and say hi to other dog friends, and Ssomaeg-i ran around happily, burning off all his energy 💛 After running and resting a bit, we headed over to swim ~

Is it okay for a dog swimming for the first time?

Gaeddae Playground has life vests on hand, so even first-time swimmers can try without worry ~ If your dog is afraid of water or has never swum, wearing a life vest and getting used to it slowly sounds like a good idea, right?

Water-shy Ssomaeg-i's first swim ever

This visit was our dog Ssomaeg-i's first-ever swim, so we were nervous too, lol

First swim of his life, success 🐶 He's a little scared of water by nature so we were worried, but once he got in he did so much better than expected, we were shocked 🥹

Washing up after the swim and what to bring

Shivering Ssomaeg-i ~ When you use the pool at Gaeddae Playground, you need to bring your own towels and shower supplies 📝 There's a washing area next to the pool too! The pool water was so clean that we just let him air-dry and showered him at home!

I had the pet milk we got for leaving a review too, haha ✨

We rested with cold drinks and ice cream, playing with him now and then ~ Gaeddae Playground is great because owners can relax comfortably, not just the dogs!

Why I recommend Gaeddae Playground for summer dog water play

Above all, in summer the hot asphalt means walks inevitably get shorter, so having a place like Gaeddae Playground where dogs can both play in water and exercise made me really happy ❤️ It's an easy distance even from Seoul, so I also recommend it as a weekend day-trip drive near Seoul!!!
