First visit to Barirus, a huge Paju café that works with babies

Barirus is a huge bakery and brunch café on the 2nd floor at 245 Bongseosan-ro, Paju-eup, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do. After weekend lunch, we were looking for a big café in Paju and found this super famous brunch café, Barirus! It's a massive café where you can enjoy brunch, dining, and handmade bakery all in one place!

This place was even featured on SBS M's 'I'm a Mukbanger' (episode 4-2), part of the Mukbeungers' restaurant list, and on 'Today's Part-Timer Returns' as a giant bakery café where the host worked part-time. Plus, mukbangers Himbap, Ah-mi-ah-mi and Cheon Ddung all raved about the barbecue family platter, and the café's signature American brunch, handmade jambon, ciabatta brunch, and affordable steak salad mean there's a great range of brunch and dining menus you can visit for any time from morning to evening!

We visited for the first time with our babies, and there's even a camping-styled zone outside, plus plenty of bakery, coffee, drinks and gelato that babies love, so it's a great spot to visit with a baby! The café is also huge, so it's great for group gatherings, family meals out, or just relaxing over coffee with friends. If you're looking for a café in Paju that's good with babies, or a big Paju café in general, I recommend Barirus as a great weekend outing or drive-date course with your little one :)

Inside Barirus: sunset media photo zone and art gallery

This big bakery café in Paju has a huge sunset media photo zone right at the entrance, which is really mystical. The interior is also huge, so it never feels cramped, which I loved!

There are comfy sofa seats, tables perfect for brunch, and large tables, all surrounded by an oversized flower plant interior and big plants. There's even an art gallery inside, so you can browse leisurely while waiting for your bakery order and coffee.

The 1,320㎡ lawn terrace at Barirus where kids can run around

This Paju spot that's good with babies has a wide-open, 1,320㎡ lawn terrace with a great view! Our babies loved it so much. There are several glamping-style tents set up, and the eco-friendly lawn lets kids run around freely.

Unless it's really hot out, on a cool day it's lovely for the adults to enjoy brunch while the kids run around outside — everyone gets to relax in their own way :)

Barirus menu and prices

This Paju bakery café has a wide variety of menu items — Bari Schüpfer ₩8,000, Americano ₩6,000, (seasonal) Pista Berry Strawberry/Choco ₩9,800, ricotta cheese salad ₩19,900, American brunch/jambon brunch ₩18,900, salmon avocado brunch ₩22,900, Bari platter ₩45,000, and more. With café, brunch, bakery and dining menus all together, you can basically get a full meal here.

For coffee and drinks, Barirus uses its own house-roasted beans, focusing on the aroma and flavor of the coffee, and even the decaf is roasted with premium beans so you can still taste the full flavor! When you visit a place for the first time, you've got to try the signature menu, right? So I tried Barirus's signature Bari Schüpfer — and it was genuinely delicious!! I drank it in one go, haha. Another signature item, the strawberry latte with real strawberry texture and the Pista Berry, are also must-tries. Be sure to order them if you visit!

This big bakery café in Paju has a huge and varied bread selection! It's known for croissants made with house-made cream.

There's also honghwae bread (red plum blossom bread), castella cream bread, crispy meringue cheese-cream strawberry bread, red bean bread, and scallion salt bread, plus a range of pastries including handmade basque cheesecake, cake slices, scones and cookies. Keep in mind there's a 20% discount on bakery items after 5pm on weekdays!

What we ordered at Barirus: plum blossom bread, Bari Schüpfer and two strawberry smoothies

Out of all the bakery options, the honghwae bread was just so pretty! We ordered it along with Barirus's signature Bari Schüpfer, and a strawberry yogurt smoothie and strawberry smoothie that the kids love.

The strawberry smoothie, packed with tiny bits of ice, looked so pretty and refreshing for the hot summer — a generous portion for a good price too! The Bari Schüpfer had a deep, rich coffee aroma that blended with the sweet cream to make it incredibly smooth. The combo of strong coffee flavor and sweet cream is such a perfect match — it might be the best schüpfer I've ever had :)

What does Barirus hongmaehwa (plum blossom) bread taste like?

The color of Barirus's honghwae bread is so pretty. It has a red bean paste-like filling inside and tastes kind of like a rice cake.

It's soft and fluffy with a subtle sweetness. Eating it together with the Bari Schüpfer is a perfect match :) It's chewy and filling, which makes it a great snack! Looking at these photos makes me want to eat it again — so good!

Why Barirus was an easy Paju café to visit with a baby

This big Paju café has coffee, bakery, and brunch, so there are enough food options overall that you can take care of a full meal right there at the café — which makes it great to visit with a baby. It was our first visit, on a weekend afternoon, and we had such a relaxing time eating lots of delicious food. Next time, I want to come back for brunch!
