Byeolbit Camping Site in Pocheon's Damteo Valley: a valley-front site for 50,000 won a night

We spent 2 nights and 3 days at Byeolbit Camping Site in Pocheon's Damteo Valley, from Saturday to Monday in September. Honestly, this is the top campsite we've ever been to! My kids loved it so much they said let's come back again haha.

Out of so many campsites, the reason we chose this one is that there's a valley right in front — and it's only ₩50,000 a night! You get valley camping and water play, all for ₩50,000. We had such a fun 2 nights and 3 days playing in the water and floating on tubes with the kids.

This place is so quiet and calm, surrounded by mountains and valley, that you'd want at least 3 nights here — the air was so fresh. Plus there are sinks, restrooms, and showers, and they're all clean, which made it even better!! No bugs, no caterpillars, so it was really pleasant!!

There's also day-use picnic bench rental, so you don't have to stay overnight! It's great even for a day trip with a baby to the valley. I really recommend it to anyone looking into valley campsites in Pocheon :)

Byeolbit Camping Site booking rules and the types of sites

A Pocheon campsite recommendation — Damteo Byeolbit Camping Site! As soon as you enter, go to check-in and they give you 2 trash bags. Then head to your reserved site.

There's a picnic zone, A site, B site, C site, and the Starlight zone — we booked B-1! We picked it because there's a path right in front leading down to the valley, so it's convenient for the kids to go back and forth. It turned out to be a really prime spot for us!

Check-in is early too, which I loved. Most other places start check-in at 2 or 3pm, but here it's earlier! The quiet hours are also long, which was great.

How clean are the sinks, restrooms and showers at Byeolbit Camping Site?

One of the key reasons I recommend this Pocheon campsite — cleanliness! Damteo Valley's Byeolbit Camping Site really has clean sinks, restrooms, and showers, all of it. It was the cleanest place I've been to so far!

When I go camping with the kids, I tend to pick clean places, and here you could really tell they cared about upkeep. Another reason we chose B-1: the store, restrooms, showers, sinks, and recycling area are all in one spot, right next to us, which was the closest and most convenient!

Kids go to the restroom a lot, so having it right next door made getting around easy, and the path down to the valley was right in front too, perfect for playing comfortably :)

What the camp store sells, from firewood to instant noodles

There's also a camp store at Byeolbit Camping Site in Pocheon, so I bought several things I needed! Firewood, drinks, alcohol, snacks, coffee — they've got everything you'd need!

We bought Chapagetti (instant black bean noodles) here haha. We had leftover Yeopgi tteokbokki (spicy stir-fried rice cakes) from lunch that we brought along. We wanted to mix in Chapagetti to make 'Yeopjagetti,' so we bought one packet and enjoyed it haha. The owner and staff here were all so kind too, which made it even better.

Pitching a Naturehike Village 13 tent on the B-1 site

We pitched a new-model Naturehike Village 13 tent at the B-1 site of Damteo Valley's Byeolbit Camping Site! The crushed-stone site was really spacious — you could easily pitch two tents there! The site was spacious and the gravel was white and clean, which I liked.

With the valley right in front like this, you can play in the water, grill delicious meat while looking at the valley — it's the perfect spot to really unwind. Surrounded by mountains right in front, the air is clear, and it's genuinely the top place I've been to so far!!! A really great spot to go camping with a baby. Highly recommend this Pocheon campsite with a baby!!!

How deep is Damteo Valley in mid-September, and catching minnows with kids

The water level at Damteo Valley in mid-September was perfect for kids to play in. As soon as my kids arrived, they went straight into natural water play! They changed into rash guards and played, and the water was so clean.

Minnows?! So many of them!!! Just scoop with a side-dish container and you get fish inside haha. Scoop with a net and you catch dozens haha. We were the only ones there, so the water play was even more fun haha.

I saw in other reviews that the B site can be deep, but maybe because it was mid-September, the valley water was low! Actually a good thing, since it was perfect for our kids to play in haha. We worried it might be cold, but it wasn't cold at all — the sun was blazing and we all got really tanned haha.

First-night camp dinner and how cold September nights get

For the first night's dinner at this Pocheon valley campsite, we had delicious gopchang (grilled beef intestines). Along with grilled fish cake skewers and Yeopjagetti, we roasted marshmallows over the firewood and enjoyed it all ^^ Eating while looking right at the valley in front made it taste even better.

It got a bit chilly at night, but not shivering cold! The first night we just kept a heater running and slept fine, not cold. On the second night, the temperature suddenly dropped, so it was a bit colder.

Dongsong Market in Cheorwon, 15 minutes away, and other nearby stops

From Byeolbit Camping Site to Dongsong Market in Cheorwon is about a 15-minute drive — so close! On the second day, while looking up what's nearby, I found out Dongsong Market was close by! We drove there at lunchtime, browsed the market, and bought some food.

There were hotspots like Mom's Touch, Baskin Robbins, 60 Chicken, Nene Chicken, and Dongdaemun Yeopgi Tteokbokki!! We bought gimbap (seaweed rice roll), dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken), kkwabaegi (twisted doughnuts), and ppeongtwigi (puffed rice snacks). We also got coffee at Paik's Coffee in the market, and they even sold seasoned galbi (marinated short ribs) like Myeongnyunjinsa Galbi, so we bought some with makgeolli (rice wine) and ate it! You've got to grill meat over charcoal, right haha. On our second night we had a great time browsing the market and eating delicious food.

Besides Dongsong Market, there are plenty of nearby attractions too! Pocheon Hantan River Garden Festa, the Hantan River Y-shaped Suspension Bridge, Bidulgi-nang Falls, Sanjeong Lake, Haneuldari Bridge, and more! There's so much worth visiting nearby, making it a perfect valley camping course with a baby!

Was 2 nights at Damteo Valley enough? The full verdict on Byeolbit Camping Site

This was really our first time in Pocheon, and Damteo Valley's campsite was so good — relaxing, quiet, surrounded by nature, and even 2 nights felt too short. Next time we're planning at least 3 nights!

My kids really said they loved it and wanted to come again. My husband and I both loved it too, and it was hard to leave after 2 nights. If you're looking into Pocheon campsites with a baby, this is the place!

You can also just do day-trip valley play using the picnic benches in the picnic zone, so keep that in mind! No bugs, no ants, no caterpillars — it was a genuinely pleasant camping trip ^^ Next time we're planning for 3 nights.
