What is Egatot Library?
Egatot Library (Tea House) is a bookshop and tea house in Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo, Jeju. The theme of this Jeju trip was healing, so I went looking for a course that fit, and that's how we ended up at Egatot Library!

Egatot Library (Tea House) is a forest meditation library. It invites you to slow down, wake up the senses that have gone numb in the daily routine, and spend time focused on yourself.
What's on the menu at each seat type?
The menu you can order at Egatot Library differs depending on whether you take a solo seat or a regular seat!
- Solo seat: tea ceremony seat / fermented sparkling tea
- Regular seat: matcha latte, Gungjeong Boi ripe tea, homemade kombucha

How do you book and run the tea ceremony seat?
You book the Egatot Library tea ceremony seat by time on Naver, and the tea ceremony introduction starts right on the hour of your reservation. We booked the 1 p.m. slot, and since it starts on the dot, we came a little early to pick out books and a seat and get ready!
They walk you through how to brew the tea yourself, and when the introduction is over, they bring a tea tray with the tea ware and the tea.

Which teas can you choose for the tea ceremony?
There are 4 teas for the tea ceremony seat: Gosu white tea, Gosu black tea, bamboo grass tea, and hojicha, so pick whatever suits your taste. We chose Gosu white tea and Hallasan wild bamboo grass tea.

Inside Egatot Library and its bookshelves
Honestly, every single corner inside Egatot Library is a healing zone.

The shelves at Egatot Library are split into 8 categories: body, mind, learning, career, relationships, spirituality, finance, and environment. Since they're sorted like this, you can just head to the section you want and pick from there!

Looking at this lush green view, my mind honestly went completely blank!

How was Egatot Library as a Seogwipo bookshop date?
There were more books than I expected, so Egatot Library worked well as a Seogwipo bookshop date. I'm really not a book person, but that day I said, let's focus on books, and picked mine with real effort!
If you want a Seogwipo bookshop date, this is the place,,, such a healing zone! Lots of people come to Jeju to heal, right? I recommend it as a healing date course..

We really did spend over an hour focused on our books, sipping tea!
Brewing Hallasan wild bamboo grass tea myself: my impressions

Our Hallasan wild bamboo grass tea is ready!

You just follow the steps you learned in the tea ceremony introduction, but it's not as easy as it sounds.. (?)

I don't usually drink tea, but sipping warm tea while reading felt really nice.

Who is Egatot Library recommended for?
You can enjoy tea with meditation, tea with reading, or tea with writing at Egatot Library, so I think it's great for anyone looking for a special Jeju bookshop or tea house on their trip. I think people who want a meditative space to stay quietly and reflect in Seogwipo will be really satisfied!
We've hardly ever visited a space like this, but it calmed my mind and it felt like a healing stretch of time! If you're looking for a Seogwipo bookshop date, do visit Egatot Library (Tea House)! It was a space that eased both body and mind.
