Sindorim work dinner jokbal with dried radish strip wraps: The Jokbal
In short
The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch is a jokbal (braised pig's trotter) restaurant on the first floor of the Sindorim 3-cha Prugio apartment shopping complex in Guro, Seoul, popular for company dinners. On a weekday evening the writer ordered front leg jokbal for 47,000 won and a small jaengban makguksu (buckwheat noodles) for 9,000 won, clearing the palate with cold bean sprout soup and wrapping the meat in dried radish strips and perilla leaves. The pork was tender with no gamey smell and a plate of naengchae jokbal (cold seasoned jokbal) came free, making The Jokbal a solid choice for drinks after work.

What a weekday work dinner at The Jokbal in Sindorim feels like
Jokbal is a popular choice for a night-out or late-night meal after work — and it also makes for a satisfying full meal! I visited The Jokbal, which felt just right for a Sindorim company dinner. I went on a weekday evening and the place was nearly full. It seemed to be office workers from the area gathered in small groups, casually drinking. There were also a lot of people who looked like regulars from the neighborhood.

The Jokbal menu and prices

I ordered jokbal and jaengban makguksu. Jokbal (front leg) was 47,000 won, jaengban makguksu (small) was 9,000 won. There's also a lunch menu, so it's a good spot to visit for lunch too.

The lunch menu includes jeyuk ssambap (stir-fried pork wraps) for 12,000 won, bossam set for 11,000 won, sundubu bossam set for 13,900 won, grilled spicy jokbal set for 12,000 won, spicy hanwoo guk-bap set for 11,000 won, and spicy sundubu set for 10,000 won. They're also running an event where you get free makguksu for writing a Naver review.
Eating front leg jokbal at The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch

Jokbal seems good for you too, with collagen and protein. The portion itself was decent.

Side dishes that go great with jokbal: cabbage, perilla leaves, garlic, onion, chive salad, and dried radish strips.

I started with the cold bean sprout soup — a palate cleanser before the jokbal itself.

Is the jokbal free of any gamey smell?
Chewy texture, boiled cleanly with no gamey smell — I could see why it's such a popular drinking snack. Eaten right when it came out, it was warm and tender.
They say they boil domestic Grade 1 fresh trotters slaughtered the same day. Even the side dishes and sauces are made in-house! The batch times for the jokbal were posted in the restaurant too — 1st batch at 2:30, 2nd at 5:00, 3rd at 7:00. Delivery orders kept coming in as well. Jokbal really is perfect for delivery too!

It had just the right amount of fat, keeping the flavor well balanced. I could see why it's a local favorite. I'd read a lot of reviews saying there was no gamey smell and came in trusting them, and sure enough I didn't notice any while eating, and the meat was on the tender side. Since there's no gamey smell, even the simple combo of just garlic and ssamjang (dipping sauce) on top was great.

Small jaengban makguksu for 9,000 won
You always end up craving jaengban guksu (tray-style buckwheat noodles) when eating jokbal, right? Make sure to order it alongside your jokbal. The sweet and tangy sauce with crunchy vegetables keeps you reaching for more. It pairs really well with jokbal.

The crunchy vegetables are the key point. There were plenty of them, which made it pair even better with the jokbal.

Free naengchae jokbal, the cold seasoned plate
Good news for fans of naengchae jokbal (cold seasoned jokbal) — I brought it here. The Jokbal near Sindorim serves it as a free side dish, included in the side dish setup, so it was nice to be able to try it. This naengchae jokbal side was tangy and refreshing, a good bite either before diving into the main jokbal or in between bites of it. It's a different flavor entirely from the regular jokbal. This was the first place I'd seen serve naengchae jokbal as a free side, so it was a fun surprise.

The Jokbal in Sindorim: better for dinner or lunch?
I piled on the various vegetables and side dishes and made wraps — even a simple wrap with just dried radish strips was delicious. With firm texture and no gamey smell, The Jokbal near Sindorim is a great spot for a light drink after work! A lot of people seem to order the half-and-half jokbal too. It also works well as a dinner menu. Since they have a separate lunch menu, it's a good spot to visit for lunch as well. If you're looking for a good lunch spot near Sindorim, give The Jokbal a try.
