Value pasta spot in Dalseo, Daegu: chicken Toowoomba risotto, Pastoboy
In short
Pastoboy Seongseo Gyedae-dongmun is a budget-friendly Western restaurant on the rodeo street by Keimyung University's east gate in Dalseo-gu, Daegu. Two of us shared the grilled chicken Toowoomba risotto (14,900 won) and the seafood rosé pasta (12,500 won); both dishes are cream-based but come with a built-in kick of spice, so neither felt heavy, and the portions were generous. Verdict: Pastoboy is good value, but ask for no spice when you order if you're bringing a child who can't handle heat.

I visited Pastoboy Seongseo Gyedae-dongmun (파스토보이 성서계대동문점), a pasta favorite near Keimyung University's east gate in Seongseo, Daegu. Good-value prices, big portions and better-than-expected flavor, so I'm happy to tell you all about it^^

Pastoboy Seongseo Gyedae-dongmun location and opening hours
Pastoboy Seongseo Gyedae-dongmun is at 29 Seodang-ro 9-gil, Dalseo-gu, Daegu, on the 1st floor, and it's open every day from 11:00 to 22:00. Last order is at 21:30.

It sits right in the middle of the Keimyung University east gate rodeo street, so it was easy to find! The modern, clean exterior fits the lively college-town vibe and catches your eye first~
How is parking at Pastoboy Seongseo Gyedae-dongmun?
There's room for one car in front of the restaurant, but parking is a bit difficult, so you'll probably need to park in an alley or along a nearby road and walk over. Since it can be tricky, I recommend taking the subway, or checking the paid parking lot inside Keimyung University or a nearby public car park beforehand!
Inside the restaurant

Thanks to the stylish interior, the inside is perfect for meeting friends or going on a date. The tables are spaced fairly wide apart too, so we could eat comfortably.
Pastoboy menu and prices: what we ordered

Pastoboy is popular for offering a wide range of Western dishes, such as pasta, risotto, steak and pilaf, at reasonable prices~ The set menus are well put together too, so they're great for getting your money's worth, haha. We went as a pair this time and ordered the grilled chicken Toowoomba risotto and the seafood rosé pasta!

At the self bar you can grab pickles, napkins and so on, and there are board games set out below it~
Grilled chicken Toowoomba risotto (₩14,900): flavor and spice level

The grilled chicken Toowoomba risotto at Pastoboy is ₩14,900. The thick, rich Toowoomba cream sauce soaks moistly into every grain of rice, so the savory flavor hits you from the very first bite.

The grilled chicken on top was crisp outside and juicy inside, and it went really well with the creamy risotto. The smoky char of the chicken and the nuttiness of the Toowoomba cream matched nicely too~

Even though it's cream-based, it has quite a bit of built-in spiciness. By the standards of someone who can't handle spice, it was slightly hot, but that kick wipes out the usual heaviness of cream, so I think adults won't get tired of it and will find it delicious!

How was the seafood rosé pasta (₩12,500)?
The seafood rosé pasta at Pastoboy is ₩12,500, which was great value too. The rosé sauce had a lovely balance of fresh tomato and smooth cream, and this one was also a little spicy.

It's packed with seafood like shrimp and mussels, and the noodles were cooked just right. The rosé flavor neatly cuts the richness of the cream, so you don't get sick of it and keep going back for more~

Going with a child? Order it not spicy
The cream dishes at Pastoboy come with a base level of spice, so if you're eating with kids who can't handle spicy food, I recommend asking for it not spicy when you order! Even by my low-spice-tolerance standards it was a bit hot, haha. Still, the spiciness cut the potentially heavy taste of the rosé sauce, so it went well with the seafood and was delicious❤️
Pastoboy Seongseo Gyedae-dongmun: overall review
Overall, the cream itself was so good in both dishes. The sauce was thick yet not heavy and smooth, so I kept reaching for more. The sauce soaked well into the pasta noodles, so every bite was full of savory flavor. The portions on both dishes are generous too, so they're just right for sharing between two :)
If you're looking for a good spot near the Seongseo Keimyung University east gate, or a pasta place near Keimyung University, I totally recommend Pastoboy Seongseo Gyedae-dongmun~!
