Why I got a tone-down dye for my orange-tinged hair

To clean up the orange tint left after my color faded, I had a tone-down dye with Director Taerim at 26do Hair Suseong Branch in Suseong, Daegu. As time passed after dyeing, my color faded, and at some point my hair went really orange 🥹 In the light especially, the orange stood out even more, so I wanted to switch to a calmer, cleaner color!

The goal wasn't just to go dark, but to fix the orange that bothered me while getting a calm look overall. If orange or reddish tones in your hair bug you, or you're thinking about a tone-down dye for a calmer color, have a look ✨

My designer and the pre-treatment consultation

My designer was Director Taerim at 26do Hair Suseong Branch. Taerim introduces layered perms, magic setting perms and personal-color treatments as specialties, haha

Before the treatment I filled out a consultation checklist. It covers your usual hair condition, damage level, scalp concerns and the style you want, so it felt thorough, a way of confirming what to keep in mind during the treatment.

After the consultation I also looked through the dye color chart! Even browns that look similar give slightly different moods depending on brightness and tone. My main worry was the leftover orange, so after confirming the color I wanted and my current hair condition, we started the tone-down dye.

What my hair looked like before dyeing

First, my hair before dyeing! As my previous color faded, it had turned brownish and quite orange overall, and I wanted to calm it down. So this time I decided to add a clinic treatment to a tone-down dye that targets the orange.

The tone-down dye process

After the consultation, the dyeing finally began!

The dye was applied carefully, starting from the scalp side.

They worked carefully so the product reached my whole head evenly.

I couldn't wait to see how calmly the orange would be cleaned up.

During the treatment they also brought drinks and snacks ☕🍪 There was a note about preparing things so customers can stay comfortably, and you could feel 26do Hair's own atmosphere.

After the dyeing came the shampoo.

Once the dye was rinsed out, they finished with the clinic treatment.

This is how I looked after the dye and shampoo! With wet hair it's still hard to judge the finished color, but we were now heading into the final stage.

Did the blue tone-down dye get rid of the orange?

After the tone-down with blue-based dye at 26do Hair Suseong Branch, my hair, which had a noticeable brownish, orange tint, turned much darker and calmer overall. With the faded brightness sorted out, my whole look felt cleaner.

This time, to deal with the orange that bothered me, the treatment used a dye containing blue color. Blue pigments are said to offset orange, which helps reduce the red, orangey feel and create a calm color overall.

The custom prescription and discount coupons I got afterward

What stood out at 26do Hair Suseong Branch was the customer-care custom prescription. It had the director's and customer's names, with guidance on aftercare.

I liked that it's not just the treatment: you also get guidance on caring for your hair.

They also gave me treatment discount coupons! The coupon listed perks like perm and basic treatment discounts, and the discount depends on the treatment type, so check before booking.

Lastly, I got a referral coupon with Director Taerim's name on it. You can use it when introducing 26do Hair Gonggam House to an acquaintance, and it gives ₩5,000 off a cut or 50% off a treatment.

Verdict: tone-down dye at 26do Hair Suseong Branch for orange-hair worries

This time I got a tone-down dye and clinic together with Director Taerim at 26do Hair Suseong Branch in Suseong, Daegu. My old color had faded and turned quite orange, which bothered me, but thanks to the dye with blue color to counter it, my bright, orangey hair settled into a calmer, darker look.

I'd recommend the tone-down dye at 26do Hair Suseong Branch to anyone whose dye job has gone orange or whose hair has become too bright and who wants a calmer color. It's best to decide after a consultation that considers your hair condition and the shade you want. If you're considering a tone-down dye or clinic at a Suseong, Daegu hair salon, take a look!
