🫕 Chodaechang

I visited Chodaechang Byeollae Branch, a great spot to hit up when you're craving daechang (beef large intestine) in Namyangju. Let's start the post on this Byeollae beef and pork intestine restaurant, Chodaechang Byeollae Branch!
Where is Chodaechang Byeollae Branch, and where do you park?
Chodaechang Byeollae Branch is at 12-18 Byeollae5-ro 5beon-gil, 1st floor, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi-do. Hours are 16:00-24:00, closed Mondays, with last order at 23:00. They have Wi-Fi, takeout, Naver reservations, group seating, parking, and corkage is available (₩10,000 per bottle).
There are about 4 parking spots in front of the store. If the lot in front is full, use a paid parking lot (Byeollae-dong roadside lot, GS The Fresh Byeollae branch).

Inside Chodaechang Byeollae Branch: an offal grill that doesn't leave smells on your clothes
Chodaechang Byeollae Branch was selected for the 2026 Blue Ribbon Survey, so it seems well worthy of being a Byeollae gopchang (offal) restaurant. Apparently plenty of celebrities and influencers have stopped by too!
It has about 9-10 seats and the overall vibe was spacious and clean. With offal restaurants, sitting in front of the fire can get hot and your clothes tend to soak up the smell — but here, the place stays cool and doesn't smell, which I loved. It felt classy, like a good spot to visit when you want to treat someone.
The restroom is inside the restaurant, separated by gender.
They have an amazing range of guest amenities. (Hair ties, mouthwash, glasses cleaner, cotton swabs, feminine products, band-aids, Fucidin, digestive medicine, Tylenol, dental floss) You might want to tie your hair back while eating gopchang, or your glasses might get splattered with oil… and they've got all that covered... the attention to detail is insane..!!
Chodaechang Byeollae Branch menu prices and the 3-serving order rule

The first grill order requires a minimum of 3 servings. There's a wide range of grilled items — daechang, hanwoo gopchang, makchang, teukyang, galbisal, yeomtong (heart) — plus meal menus like yukhoe (beef tartare), daechang jeongol (hot pot), yang bokkeumbap (fried rice), doenjang sulbap, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), haejang udon (hangover udon), minari yangmuchim (water celery and beef tripe salad), and hanwoo mulhoe (cold raw fish soup). Pairing yangdaechang with wine sounds great too.

Country-of-origin labeling board and Wi-Fi QR code. Chodaechang Byeollae Branch only uses hanwoo (Korean beef) daechang, which builds trust.

Write a photo review and get free kimchi-mari guksu (kimchi noodle soup) — one participation per table, can't be combined with other events. Something to note if you visit the Byeollae branch!

What we ordered at Chodaechang and the side dishes served
- Mixed Grill Set B ₩57,000
- Doenjang sulbap ₩7,000
- Saero ₩5,000
- Zero Pepsi ₩2,000

Side dishes (gungchae jangajji pickles, kimwasabi, potato-corn salad, seasoned lettuce, stir-fried baek-kimchi) — each side dish comes out neatly plated. Two sauces! A sweet-and-tangy soy sauce with lemon, and a nutty makchang sauce with soybean powder.

Mixed Grill Set B, 57,000 won — staff grill it over charcoal for you
The Mixed Grill Set B (₩57,000) is a set menu with daechang, teukyang (beef stomach lining), and makchang (pork/beef intestine, 510g). A Byeollae restaurant that uses charcoal! The staff grilled everything carefully from the start, so we could just relax and eat. Grilling offal is honestly tricky, isn't it? Since the staff handled it deliciously, all we had to do was wait.

Teukyang with kim-wasabi, makchang with soybean-powder sauce
Once trimmed, they place each piece one by one at the edge of the grill — this is teukyang. Apparently teukyang tastes best paired with kimwasabi (seaweed-wasabi sauce). Even people who aren't big on wasabi might fall for this kimwasabi sauce! The nutty teukyang pairs really well with the kimwasabi combo. What a gem.
This is makchang. Apparently makchang tastes best paired with makchang sauce. It's got soybean powder in it, so it's nutty and matches well with the chewy texture of the makchang.

Daechang dipped lightly in lemon soy sauce
And finally, daechang! Daechang is eaten lightly dipped in the soy sauce with lemon. The rich, nutty flavor of the daechang combined with the sweet-and-tangy soy sauce and the spicy kick of the chili peppers keeps you eating without feeling greasy.

Doenjang sulbap, 7,000 won — the finish that cuts the richness
Doenjang sulbap, ₩7,000. Eating yangdaechang tends to feel a bit greasy after a while, and this is exactly when ordering a doenjang sulbap comes in handy. With zucchini, tofu, chives, onion, and rice, it fills you up while also cutting the richness of the daechang. Great as a drinking snack or as a filling meal.

Saero, ₩5,000, Zero Pepsi, ₩2,000. Can't have yangdaechang without a drink, haha.

One sip... then another sip with soy sauce and chili added in... Eating only daechang can get a little greasy, but grilled garlic and kkwarigochu (shishito-style peppers) round it off cleanly.
Overall, Chodaechang Byeollae Branch had a clean, upscale vibe, and having the staff grill everything for us made the meal effortless.
Free dessert ice cream to end the meal
For dessert at Chodaechang Byeollae Branch, just ask the staff and they'll bring out ice cream. It came in a fancy glass bowl. Excellent! It's been a while! I got the blue one!! Dessert really has to be ice cream to feel complete.

What I liked most was being able to pair the daechang, teukyang, and makchang each with their own matching sauce, so we got to enjoy a variety of flavors.
If you're looking for a classy, clean Byeollae yangdaechang restaurant, I'd recommend Chodaechang Byeollae Branch.
