Pho bar at Dongtan Station with a 31-month-old toddler: Mibundang
In short
Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch is a pho (Vietnamese rice noodle soup) restaurant on the first floor of the Dongtan Station Richian Shopping Arcade in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi, where every seat is at a bar table. Eating with a 31-month-old, the writer ordered brisket pho, brisket-and-tendon pho and a mixed fried platter; the food came out quickly, parking is available in the building, and the toddler especially loved the platter's buffalo wings and potato-wrapped fried shrimp. If your child sits well at a bar table, Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch followed by a stop at Hayan Pungcha (하얀풍차) next door is a route worth recommending.

When we eat out with a little one, taste matters, but I always check whether parking is easy and whether the atmosphere works for kids too. This time we visited Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch (미분당 동탄역점) with our 31-month-old. I already like Mibundang and have tried several branches, and the Dongtan Station one was more satisfying than I expected. The food came out quickly and parking was easy, so it felt low-stress with a child.
Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch is all bar tables: is it okay with a baby?
Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch has no regular tables. Every seat is at a bar table, and that was the thing I worried about most before coming with a 31-month-old.
Our child is 31 months old, has eaten at bar-table restaurants a few times on a trip to Japan, and usually stays in their seat at mealtimes, so it wasn't a big problem. If anything, the quiet atmosphere made it easy to focus on eating, and the food came out fast, so we didn't have to wait long.
That said, I don't think this setup suits every child. If your baby is very active or can't sit in a tall seat for long, you may have to keep a close eye on them the whole time. In that case, getting takeout and eating comfortably at home might be the better choice.

What we ordered at Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch
This time we ordered the brisket pho, the brisket-and-tendon pho, and the mixed fry platter.

At Mibundang, if you follow the how-to-eat guide on the table and add pickled onion, hot sauce and hoisin sauce (haisen-jang) in moderation, the pho gets a whole other charm. I started by eating it plain and added the sauces halfway through, and the flavor definitely came alive.

Fast food is a big plus when eating out with a child
Food at Mibundang comes out really fast after you order, and when you're eating out with a child, that's a huge advantage. Hot pho arrived before our little one could start fussing about being hungry, so we could dig in right away.

Brisket pho, ordered for the baby
The brisket pho we ordered for the baby had a broth that was clean yet deep. It wasn't harsh and was mild enough to eat without any worry, and the brisket was tender, so it was finished happily to the end.

Rich, nutty brisket-and-tendon pho
The brisket-and-tendon pho I ordered was much richer and nuttier than the plain brisket pho. The savory flavor of the beef plate (chadol) plus chewy tendon made for a great texture, and if you like a heavier broth, you'll probably be happier with this one.

The dish our child ate best: the mixed fry platter
Personally, the dish I liked most at Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch this time was the mixed fry platter. You get to taste several fried items at once, which goes well with pho, and I'd recommend it even more if you're coming with a child.

Our child especially loved the buffalo wings. They already like meat, and maybe because the wings were tender and not over-seasoned, they kept asking for more. The potato-wrapped shrimp fry was also really good: crispy outside with plump shrimp inside, satisfying even for adults, and our child took one bite, said it was delicious, and ate it up. Even the side dishes were great, so next time we'll definitely order the fry platter again.

Parking at Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch and the route to Hayan Pungcha
Parking is available in the building, so it was easy even with a child. Parking often stresses me out when we go out with a kid, so this was a real plus.
After eating, we stopped by Hayan Pungcha (하얀풍차, the bakery right next door), bought some bread, and headed home. That route worked really well. Eating and buying bread in one go made the whole outing feel even more satisfying. If you're planning a meal near Dongtan Station, I'd recommend a bowl of pho at Mibundang followed by a stop at Hayan Pungcha.

Dongtan Station pho: would we go back to Mibundang?
We were happy with everything at Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch this time: the taste, the parking, how fast the food came out, and the clean atmosphere.

Since it's bar tables only, though, do think about your child's temperament before you go. A child like ours, who is used to bar tables and sits well at meals, can eat comfortably, but with an active baby, takeout may be the better choice. The brisket pho was good and the brisket-and-tendon pho was satisfying, but the surprise best was the mixed fry platter. Our child ate the buffalo wings and potato-wrapped shrimp so well that it made the meal even more memorable.

If you're looking for a good pho place at Dongtan Station, or wondering whether Mibundang works with a baby, I'd recommend it as long as it fits your child's temperament. Parking is easy, and you can stop by Hayan Pungcha after the meal, which made it a nice eating-out route at Dongtan Station.
