What kind of pies does Hodu Kkakki Brothers make?
Hodu Kkakki Brothers is a Dogok-dong café where you can try handmade pies made with oligosaccharide syrup, honey and maple syrup instead of sugar, along with a range of drinks. It has been featured on SBS's Live Today (생방송투데이) and on YouTube by lots of people, and it's known for having plenty of regulars.

A small, tidy takeout pie shop in Dogok-dong
The shop is mostly for takeout. The moment I stepped in, the smell of baking pie filled the air. It isn't big, but it was kept very clean, and the pies in the showcase were neatly arranged.

On one side I could even see the space where the handmade pies are actually made. It felt like each dessert is made with care, which made me trust the place even more.

Pies on display in the showcase
Walk into Hodu Kkakki Brothers and you'll see a wide range of walnut and nut pies. Besides the basic walnut pie there are pecan, hazelnut cacao, macadamia cheese and cream cheese pies, so choosing is half the fun.

We ordered Premium Nuts No. 1.

While waiting for my order I noticed they also had a Dubai crispy pie. It's sold in limited quantities, so if you want one, it's best to go early.
What is the gift packaging like at Hodu Kkakki Brothers?
The pie sets come in a classy box, so they'd make a great gift. The box design is neat and sturdy, which makes it easy to carry.

What comes in Premium Nuts Set No. 1?
The Premium Nuts Set No. 1 I ordered is a premium assorted pie set in a whole-tart style, 8 slices in total. Being able to enjoy several flavors at once is just so good. It has 4 types, 2 slices of each.
- Signature walnut pie
- Hazelnut cacao pie
- Original pecan pie
- Macadamia cheese pie

Signature walnut pie
The signature walnut pie is the most basic one, and as the shop's flagship it's really good. The walnuts are piled on generously, and the filling is moist without being too sticky, so it felt well balanced.
Above all, the cinnamon aroma blends naturally with the nutty flavor of the walnuts, giving a really refined taste. Usually I stop after one pie, but the walnut pie at this Dogok-dong café is so good I kept reaching for more. It isn't just sweet; the natural flavor of the ingredients comes through, so it's great as a gift for older relatives and would feel upscale as a thank-you present too.

Hazelnut cacao pie
If you love chocolate, I think the hazelnut cacao pie will be a hit. The rich cacao flavor, sweet yet bittersweet, left an impression. With the nuttiness of hazelnut on top, the whole thing tasted really deep.
It isn't a heavy, sugary chocolate dessert but feels like a premium dessert that goes well with coffee, so it's even better paired with a cup.
Macadamia cheese pie
They're all delicious, but the one that impressed me most personally was the macadamia cheese pie. The soft taste of thick, dense cream cheese went really well with the nutty macadamia. It felt like getting the best of a cheesecake and a nut pie at the same time.
The texture was great too, and it wasn't too heavy overall, so it was easy to eat without feeling stuffed.

Original pecan pie
I'd recommend the original pecan pie to anyone who likes the nutty flavor that's unique to pecans. The pecans on top are big, so the chew was satisfying, and the nuttiness came through very strongly. I think nut lovers will like the pecan pie even more because of that bite.

I love handmade pies, so I enjoyed every flavor. I liked that the crust was crisp and the fillings weren't very sweet.
Verdict: who should try Hodu Kkakki Brothers?
This Dogok-dong café isn't just about pretty desserts; the ingredients, the taste and even the packaging were all satisfying. The premium nut pie set, which lets you enjoy several flavors at once, is good for sharing with family, handy as a kids' snack, and would make a lovely thank-you gift.
If you're looking for a special dessert near Yangjae Station, or wondering what handmade dessert to give as a gift, why not visit Hodu Kkakki Brothers?
