Why we picked it for a big family meal on our Busan trip
After Yangyang, our second summer vacation with my parents' side of the family took us to Gwangalli in Busan, the hot spot of the moment :)
It was a trip of 8 people: Mom, Dad, my family, and my brother's family. Even one restaurant meal isn't easy with a group like that, but Working Holiday Minrak, a brunch café in Gwangalli, had a great location, a great view and food we were happy with!

Working Holiday Minrak is on the 7th floor of the Bada Maru building. Even the exterior gives off such a hip vibe!

Order at the kiosk, easy even on a first visit
Ordering is simple at the kiosk by the entrance. The menu photos and descriptions are detailed, so picking dishes wasn't hard even on a first visit.

Busy even at 4:30pm, but the space is large
The interior is totally my taste.
I expected crowds, so I went at an in-between time, around 4:30pm, but a hot spot is a hot spot. It was already bustling with customers.
Still, the café is really big and the tables are spaced comfortably, so it never felt stuffy. It looked great for families like ours and for group gatherings :)

Gwangan Bridge view through the big windows
Gwangan Bridge spreads out in one sweep. A view spot, no question 👏

4 dishes we ordered with three kids
If the kiosk feels inconvenient, there are menus inside the café too 😉 We came with 5 adults and 3 kids, so we chose dishes the kids could enjoy as well.
- ☑️ Margherita pizza
- ☑️ Fricassée pasta
- ☑️ Fish and chips
- ☑️ Bolognese pasta
For the pastas where you can choose the spice level, we picked not spicy for all of them 🙋♀️

All the dishes have arrived!!

Look at that presentation, wow. The plating seemed to capture the hip Gwangalli vibe perfectly.

My top pick: the fricassée pasta
Out of everything, my top pick was definitely the fricassée pasta. I really love cream pasta, and this cream sauce was thick yet not heavy, with a rich, nutty flavor. So good!!

It comes with generous chunks of grilled chicken and button mushrooms, so every bite was full of flavor. It was a cream pasta I never got tired of, right to the end.

Fish and chips and margherita pizza
The fish and chips were crispy outside and moist inside! Not greasy, so I could eat them cleanly to the end, and the fries served alongside were the kids' top pick too :)
Next, the most basic menu item, the classic Italian margherita pizza!
The oven-baked dough was chewy yet plain in a good way, and the tomato sauce, cheese and basil came together cleanly, so it went really well with the other dishes.

Bolognese pasta, a hit with the kids
The bolognese pasta looked stunning, with plenty of rich meat sauce, and the kids ate it up. The tomato acidity isn't strong and the savory depth of the meat comes through, so it's a flavor anyone, young or old, can enjoy without any fuss.
Lingering after the meal with the bridge view
Working Holiday Minrak has brunch and dinner menus, but it's also totally fine to come just for coffee, drinks or alcohol. The relaxed atmosphere made it perfect for staying on after the meal, looking out at Gwangan Bridge.
Above all, the Gwangan Bridge view through the big windows was truly a work of art 🤩 It felt like a seaside restaurant abroad, so it's great for photos too. Lots of foreign tourists come here, and once I visited myself I understood right away why it's so popular.
We were happy with both the delicious food and the great view on our family trip to Busan at this Gwangalli brunch café, Working Holiday Minrak! If you're looking for a brunch café with a nice atmosphere or a place for a family meal in Gwangalli, I strongly recommend it.
