Munji-dong, Daejeon steak date: fat-trimmed sirloin Set D, Seoreojeong
In short
Seoreojeong Munji Branch (설어정 문지점) is a steak set-meal restaurant tucked among low-rise villas in Munji-dong, Yuseong, Daejeon. The writer and her husband ordered Set D with the 300g sirloin upgrade (+13,000 won) and were especially impressed by the perfect medium-rare steak and the marbled sirloin served with every chunk of hard fat trimmed away. For a steak date or a small get-together around Munji-dong and Jeonmin-dong, Seoreojeong Munji Branch is the first place to recommend.

I was craving steak for the first time in a while, so I went to Seoreojeong Munji Branch (설어정 문지점), the best steak spot in Munji-dong. I've been here on dates with my husband and also for a friend's wedding invitation get-together. The steak spread that comes out as one full table is wonderful. (Everyone in Munji and Jeonmin knows this place.)

Where to park for Seoreojeong Munji Branch
Seoreojeong Munji Branch has no parking lot, but the villa neighborhood in Munji-dong has plenty of alleys, so street parking is fairly easy. It's a bit far by public transport. You can walk along Gapcheon stream right after eating, so the location is a big plus for a date.

Here's the front of Seoreojeong. They expanded and moved a few years ago, so the place is now cleaner and prettier overall.

If you bring your Seoreojeong receipt, you can get a discount at Daram Café. Sadly, I was too full that day, and I can't have caffeine, so we skipped the café.

Inside Seoreojeong Munji Branch: interior and seating
There are about 10 tables inside Seoreojeong Munji Branch. It was quiet, maybe because we came a bit early.

There's even a cute photo zone. And that's my husband, thrilled to be here for meat.

Seoreojeong also runs a review event and a save-and-notification event. The perks are quite generous, so do join in.

What's on the Seoreojeong Munji Branch menu?
The main menu at Seoreojeong Munji Branch is steak, in four cuts: top blade, chop, sirloin and chuck flap. You can also get it as a set with a drink, fries and udon (thick wheat noodles).

They have pasta too, plus a variety of drinks and alcohol. (Draft beer sounds so good...)
We were in full-on meat-demolishing mode, so we didn't order it, but the curry at Seoreojeong is really good too. Recommended.
How was Set D with the 300g sirloin upgrade?
Today we ordered Seoreojeong's Set D with the 300g sirloin upgrade (+₩13,000). Personally, I recommend sirloin and chuck flap for the cut. It's a little pricey, but you won't regret it. Honestly, a full steak table for under ₩30,000 is a great deal.

Here's our order when it arrived. It comes as a neat, pretty full table.

The doneness of the steak was perfect. A perfect medium-rare.

It was seriously so good. Tender and full of juice. It went wonderfully with the onions too.

Seoreojeong's sirloin with all the hard fat trimmed off
But the sirloin at Seoreojeong moved me even more. As you can see in the photo, it came out with all the hard fat (tteok-jibang, the chewy fat block) trimmed away. Hardly any restaurant serves sirloin trimmed like this. Trimming affects how it eats, but it also hugely affects how it cooks, right?

With the sirloin trimmed so perfectly, there wasn't a single tough bit, and every part was cooked beautifully. It was ribeye with the cap, so there was also the shrimp-shaped strip of meat, giving a variety of textures and flavors in one steak. So good.

Are 180g and 300g steaks enough for two people?
Two people eating 180g and 300g of Seoreojeong steak was a really big portion. The set also comes with rice, udon, soup and fries, so we were even fuller. Even 180g each is plenty. Of course, if you want to demolish meat like we did, 300g is great too. (Especially the sirloin, highly recommended.)
And the meat is good, but all the other sides were delicious too. The fries were totally my taste,, if you go, try the fries.
Verdict: Seoreojeong for steak in Munji-dong and Jeonmin-dong
For steak in Munji and Jeonmin, Seoreojeong is the best. I recommend it to anyone looking for a great steak restaurant in this area. I'd strongly recommend it for dates, small gatherings and wedding invitation get-togethers alike.
