Seolleung restaurant pre-movie dinner, spicy cream risotto: Kkuudeok

In short

Kkuudeok Seolleung Main Branch is a Western restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul, a 5-minute walk from Seolleung Station Exit 2, where diners grill their own skirt steak on a burner set into the table. For dinner before a movie, two friends ordered the Kkuudeok Set (46,800 won) and added brisket perilla leaf pasta and spicy cream risotto for 1,000 won each, for a total of 48,800 won, and the refillable jar of homemade pickles and five sauces were the highlights. Kkuudeok Seolleung Main Branch suits two people who want to decide how rare the steak stays.

"Kkuudeok Seolleung Main Branch"

Kkuudeok Seolleung Main Branch: 5 minutes on foot from Seolleung Station Exit 2

Kkuudeok Seolleung Main Branch is a Western restaurant on the 1st floor of the Sui Building, 16 Seolleung-ro 82-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Hours are Mon–Fri 11:00–21:00 (break 14:30–15:30) and Sat–Sun 11:00–21:00 (break 15:00–16:30). No parking, but private booking is available.

My friend and I had a movie date planned — finally, the movie 'Hope.' We decided to fill up on a solid dinner first. She works near Seolleung Station, so while searching for Seolleung restaurants she found a place with good value, good taste, and a high rating on Kakao Map. (I do trust Kakao Map ratings quite a bit.)

Kkuudeok Seolleung Main Branch, this Seolleung restaurant, is just a 5-minute walk from Seolleung Station Exit 2 — perfect for meeting up since it's so close to the station.

I really liked the sign — clean, no clutter. You grill the steak yourself, and you decide how done it gets. (Your own style, however you like it.)

Inside Kkuudeok: the room and the reserved window seats

The Kkuudeok Seolleung Main Branch interior is spacious and clean. The soft lighting also makes it a great spot for a blind date nearby! Of course it's just as good for meals with family or friends.

Reserving ahead through Naver makes things easy. It was right around dinnertime, so with our reservation we were shown straight to our seats. The window seat we got was such a prime spot — really nice!

Even though it's a Western restaurant, Korean touches blend in harmoniously. The mother-of-pearl inlay frame was so cool! The lighting is unique too.

What comes in the 46,800-won Kkuudeok Set

You order via table order (tablet). Here's a photo of the menu board at the entrance so you can see everything at a glance. À la carte works too, but the Kkuudeok Set looked perfect for two, so we went with that.

The refillable jar of homemade pickles

Every table gets its own refillable pickle jar — this genuinely touched me. My friend, who loves pickles, was super happy about it. They tasted like proper homemade pickles, so even I, who's not really a pickle person, kept reaching for more. I honestly lost count of how many times I dug in, haha.

There's also parmesan cheese powder, spicy powder, and pepper on the table to sprinkle to taste.

One cola each — love that! Cold Zero Coke over ice was already waiting for us.

Premium skirt steak with side vegetables

Premium skirt steak you sear yourself at the table

Premium skirt steak. This is exactly the kind of steak you'd expect from a solid Seolleung restaurant! It came with oyster mushrooms, grilled corn, and jalapeños. Sauces included whole grain mustard, barbecue sauce, salt, and wasabi, plus a savory soy-based sauce with chopped green onion. Loved having so many dips to try.

They coat the pan with butter first.

Then the skirt steak goes straight on to grill ✌ You cook it to whatever doneness you like. I only seared the outside lightly.

Anyone else into this style?

My friend said the whole grain mustard sauce was the best, while I preferred dipping mine in wasabi. Looking back, I didn't even touch the salt... next time I'll try that too. The wasabi was great, but the green onion soy sauce went really well too! It felt like a Korean-style way to eat steak — totally charming.

We also grilled up the corn and oyster mushrooms and ate every bit. This mushroom fanatic was happy that day too!

Brisket perilla leaf pasta topped with egg yolk
The egg yolk broken into the perilla pasta

What does the brisket perilla leaf pasta taste like?

Brisket perilla leaf pasta (chadol kkaennip deulkkae pasta). If you're torn on which pasta to get, I fully recommend this one. It's a pasta with a fusion Korean twist, and it exceeded expectations — the nuttiness of perilla seeds, the richness of the egg yolk, the fragrance of perilla leaves, and the savoriness of the beef brisket, all together! How could this not be delicious? Both my friend and I were super satisfied with this dish.

Thanks to my friend for letting me have the honor(?) of popping the yolk!

Please, seriously, try this one... it's so good!!!

Spicy cream risotto: thick as porridge

Spicy cream risotto. This one has a yolk too!! You can tell right away it's thick and rich. I like Naples Mafia's pasta, but for risotto I prefer a porridge-like texture over al dente.

I popped this yolk too, haha. The portions across the board were generous, which made it feel even better value.

The shrimp were shared fairly, one each, and there were plenty of mushrooms, so every bite was blissful. The rich, nutty, delicious spicy cream risotto! It's pleasantly spicy without ever getting overwhelming.

We were so focused on eating that we didn't even notice how full the place had gotten with other customers!!

The table after finishing the meal

It was so good! d=(´▽`)=b

Apparently if you leave a Naver photo review, you get a cup of chocolate crunch vanilla ice cream per review. Such a thoughtful touch at Kkuudeok Seolleung Main Branch, this Seolleung restaurant. Fully recommend! We were so full we walked all the way to Megabox COEX. And the movie Hope we saw that day was thrilling and fun too — the perfect ending to a perfect day.
