The weather's been all over the place lately and I really wanted a mood boost from something delicious, so I finally went to a sushi place I'd been dying to try. It's 'Special Sushi Osan Branch,' near Osan City Hall! I'm pretty picky about raw fish and sushi since I love it so much, but from the very first bite at Special Sushi Osan Branch I blurted out, "Wow, I'm becoming a regular here!" haha (absolute top-tier value for money!!!!!)

Special Sushi Osan Branch is on the 2nd floor of Jungang City Wall, 130 Seongho-daero, Osan, Gyeonggi, and if you're driving you can park at the nearby Unam Public Parking Lot. It's open daily from 11:30 to 22:00, with a break time from 15:00 to 17:00.

It's near Osan Station so it's really accessible! It's on the 2nd floor of the building and the sign is easy to spot. I came by car, and I'd recommend parking at Unam Public Parking Lot — it's only about a 3-minute walk to the restaurant, so no hassle at all!

Because it's an open rail and open kitchen, you can watch the chefs putting real care into making the sushi, and it gave me a lot of confidence in the place! Every seat has its own tablet kiosk so I could comfortably order whatever I wanted, and there were plenty of baby chairs too, so a lot of families were dining there. 😋

How was the flounder and salmon sushi at Special Sushi Osan Branch?

The first things I tried at Special Sushi Osan Branch were the flounder sushi and salmon sushi, and the slices of fish were thick and long. It was a completely different league from places that pile on rice but skimp on the fish.

The flounder and salmon sushi had fish that was so thick and long! It was chewy but got sweeter the more you chewed, and you could really taste the freshness. The salmon especially melted in my mouth with a nutty richness the moment I bit into it — as a salmon fanatic, I could've cried. 🥹

The dishes you absolutely must try at Special Sushi Osan Branch are the raw beef sushi lineup, the aged kimchi flounder sushi, and the maki. (Honestly just eat everything, it's all amazing.)

If you come to Special Sushi Osan Branch, you absolutely have to try every sushi with raw beef (yukhoe) on it haha. The chewy, savory seasoned beef mixes with the rice, and one bite had my eyes wide open...!

All I can say about the aged kimchi flounder sushi is that it's insane 😭 The combination of the springy texture of the flounder with the crisp, refreshing aged kimchi was so good I lost count of how many plates I grabbed.

And... please, please try the maki too! The popping fish roe and the freshly wrapped, crispy seaweed were completely my type.
