Dongdaegu Station lamb skewer bar before a Sunday train: Yangbokjeom
In short
Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch (양복점 동대구역점) is a lamb skewer and Chinese-style pub in the food alley right in front of Dongdaegu Station in Daegu. Before catching a train on a Sunday evening, the writer ordered 2 servings of jumbo lamb skewers and onmyeon (warm noodles), and especially liked the plump skewers with no gamey smell and the refreshing chili-oil-topped onmyeon broth. Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch is a very satisfying lamb skewer meal before or after a train at Dongdaegu Station.

Why I picked Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch in the Dongdaegu Station food alley
Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch (양복점 동대구역점) is a lamb skewer place in the food alley right in front of Dongdaegu Station, so it's great for a meal before or after a train. I'd heard the Dongdaegu Station food alley is hot these days, and it really has gotten crowded. Lots of places had a wait, and this is my review of Yangbokjeom, which is said to be a rising favorite among them.

Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch hours and parking
Yangbokjeom is open Monday to Friday 17:00 to 01:00 the next day and Saturday to Sunday 16:00 to 01:00 the next day, with last order at 00:00 on both. There's no private parking lot, so I'd recommend the paid public lot within 500 m, across from iM Bank Sincheon 4-dong Branch. It's ₩1,300 for the first 30 minutes, ₩600 per additional 10 minutes, and ₩13,000 at most.
Before leaving Daegu I wanted a truly great meal, so I chose Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch, which everyone raves about ( ˃ᴗ˂ )

From the outside you can't even tell it's a lamb skewer place. It felt a bit more old-fashioned and classy than your usual lamb skewer joint?
Inside Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch: is it crowded on a Sunday evening?

Even at an in-between Sunday evening hour, Yangbokjeom was almost full. I was eating around my train time and deliberately picked a time that shouldn't be busy, but the seats were nearly all taken.

The right side is a room area, privately separated, so it looks well suited to company dinners or group gatherings. The interior gives off a distinctive Chinese restaurant vibe that is Yangbokjeom's own.

Every table has a tablet, which makes ordering easy. Read up on the benefits of lamb to get your appetite going~!!!!

The meat menu requires ordering at least 2 servings! There are three choices: jumbo skewers, sirloin skewers and flower ribs. Garlic skewers are ordered separately for ₩3,000.
No matter how many dishes a lamb skewer place offers, you end up eating only the same few, right?! Yangbokjeom felt like it had trimmed the menu down to just the dishes Koreans love, which I liked.
Yangbokjeom jumbo skewers: is there any gamey smell?

Each table is set with cumin (zira), curry, chaoliao (a Chinese dipping seasoning) and pink salt, which was super convenient. And tidy, too!

The basic setup

I ordered 2 servings of Yangbokjeom jumbo skewers, ₩18,000 x 2. Maybe because they're jumbo skewers, they're definitely much plumper than ordinary lamb skewers.

Once lamb starts grilling, that signature lamb smell usually hits you, but Yangbokjeom's jumbo skewers had amazingly no gamey smell at all. (The next table was praising this too!)

The glossiness is unreal!! The moment I bit in, juice burst across my whole mouth, T_T I wondered why it was so tender, and apparently Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch uses Australian lamb under 1 year old, so you get much more tender skewers.

How was the onmyeon (warm noodles) with the lamb skewers?
The onmyeon at Yangbokjeom is ₩8,000 and comes with chili oil floating on top!! The clean, cool broth wipes away the richness of the lamb. Once I'd sent the meat grease down, I felt like I could eat even more meat.

The chewy noodles soak up the broth so well that they're really tasty even on their own. I don't usually like noodle dishes, but the texture was so good that I enjoyed it a lot.
At other tables, lots of people were eating black guobaorou (Chinese sweet-and-sour pork), and the look of it is just wow;; I think I'll regret for good that I was too full to try it.
My last meal in Daegu: overall verdict on Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch
Crowded places are crowded for a reason. The food at Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch is so good, and the staff are incredibly kind. I'm 500% satisfied with my last meal in Daegu ◡̈ ✌︎
