Hello! If you love chicken galbi (grilled marinated chicken) or unusual chicken cuts around Cheonho Station's Rodeo Street food alley, this is a place you absolutely cannot walk past — 'Ondogye,' the Cheonho Rodeo branch.
Usually when people think of chicken galbi, they picture it stir-fried with vegetables on a flat griddle. But this place is a charcoal chicken galbi specialist, letting you taste the meat's true flavor grilled right over charcoal. All the greasy fat gets burned off, leaving incredibly tender chicken with juicy meat and a well-balanced marinade — genuinely great with drinks, and the vibe is excellent too. Let me show you around.

A charcoal restaurant where the smell doesn't stick to your clothes?
Walking in, the clean interior immediately caught my eye! Rather than the usual rumpled, greasy barbecue joint vibe, it felt neat and tidy, which put me in a good mood. No greasy sheen anywhere — it almost felt like a Korean restaurant, and the tables were spaced at a comfortable distance.
The best part was that even though it's a charcoal grill place, the ventilation system is so good that the smell of meat barely clings to your clothes.

The basic side dishes came out neatly arranged, and the tables were spotless! And since staff grill every single order of meat for you here, you can eat without any hassle. *There's no risk of the meat burning on the charcoal.*

Free fried chicken gizzards and Dangjin Baekryeon raw makgeolli
This is the free gizzard service!

Baekryeon makgeolli (unrefined rice wine) has lotus leaf added, giving it a clean, refreshing finish going down. Personally, when makgeolli has too many additives or is too sweet, it feels heavy to me. This Baekryeon isn't overly sweet or thick — it's really clean, with a subtle aroma and a soft fizz. It balances light and rich, savory flavors really well.

Garlic salt chicken galbi and salted chicken neck meat
First on the grill: one order each of garlic salt chicken galbi and salted chicken neck meat. Whatever you order, they bring it all out at once, already partially cooked! Everything is pre-seasoned, so it tastes great even without extra sauce.

The deep charcoal aroma really came through — the fragrance was excellent, and the meat had a clean, tender bite.

The appeal of chicken neck meat is definitely its texture — chewier and springier than chicken thigh meat, in a really satisfying way. Wrapped up with the side dishes, it becomes a sweet-and-salty bite that pretty much everyone will enjoy.

Even the leftover bone pieces are salty and delicious as a drinking snack. The clean, refined flavor of the Dangjin Baekryeon makgeolli — and soju too — pairs perfectly with the meat! 👍

Adding an order of grilled vegetables
We added an order of grilled vegetables too!
