Haenggung-dong, Suwon wine bar with port by the glass: Nonchalant

Nonchalant Lounge is a Western restaurant and wine lounge in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, on the Janganmun gate side of the neighborhood. The writer arrived around 5pm on a weekday, just as the break time ended, for an early dinner of white wine and port wine by the glass, a sirloin cap steak platter, basil tomato pasta and garlic butter rice. With port wine available by the glass and both the mood and the food satisfying, Nonchalant Lounge is a spot worth recommending for a date or a blind date.

Sangin-dong, Daegu yakitori bar: Tabling wait, whole thigh, Toriaejeu

Toriaejeu Sangin Daegu Branch is a charcoal-grilled yakitori izakaya in Sangin-dong, Dalseo, Daegu. After joining the Tabling waitlist around 8pm on a Saturday, the writer came for a second round and had salt-grilled whole chicken thigh, whole pork belly in teri sauce, charcoal-grilled mentaiko (pollock roe) and tsukune (chicken meatballs) with soju. Every skewer at Toriaejeu Sangin can be ordered salt-grilled, spicy or with teri sauce, and the menu was good across the board — a place worth coming back to.
