Milmyeon (Busan-style cold wheat noodles) is one of those dishes that comes to mind in the sweltering summer! It's easy to enjoy even when you have no appetite. Today I'm introducing Samsam Milmyeon (삼삼밀면), a milmyeon restaurant in Dal-dong, Ulsan, where I went with my boyfriend after work. It's near the Ulsan bus terminal so it's easy to get to, and you can park too. The menu is just two things: mul milmyeon (in cold broth) and bibim milmyeon (spicy mixed).
Where is Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch?
Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch is in Dal-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan, a 3-minute walk from Ulsan Intercity Bus Terminal. Here's what the outside looks like :)

Where do you park at Samsam Milmyeon?
For parking, use the Paldo paid parking lot, a 1-minute walk from the restaurant. If you eat here you get 1 hour of free parking. The lot gives you a parking ticket, and you just get it stamped when you pay after the meal! Don't forget the stamp :)

Inside Samsam Milmyeon: seating and evening atmosphere
Inside there are 2-person and 4-person tables with chairs, and the seats on the raised platform to the right of the entrance are shoes-off. We arrived around 5:30pm, and as it got close to 6pm customers started trickling in! There were people eating alone too.

Samsam Milmyeon menu, prices and kiosk options
You order on the kiosk at the table! True to the name, the restaurant focuses on milmyeon.
- Mul / bibim milmyeon ₩9,000
- Large mul / bibim milmyeon ₩10,000
- Dumplings ₩6,000
- Extra noodles (sari) ₩3,000

What I liked while ordering was the detailed options. For mul milmyeon you can choose no seasoning paste (dadaegi), less paste, no radish, or no cucumber. For bibim milmyeon you can choose no radish, no cucumber, no skate (gaori), less spicy, or spicy.
What does Samsam Milmyeon's warm broth taste like?
Shredded radish, pickled radish, dumpling soy sauce and broth came out first.

The warm broth is made by simmering Hanwoo (Korean beef) cow bones. They say it's made only with natural ingredients and no other additives, so how does it get this deep a flavor? I could taste a peppery kick, and the warmth was nice. A bite of cold milmyeon followed by a sip of warm broth is part of the charm of eating milmyeon 😉

The main dishes, milmyeon and dumplings, came out soon after. The mul milmyeon and bibim milmyeon look amazing. They're piled high with crunchy shredded cucumber, so if you don't like cucumber, you can have it left out when ordering.

You get 8 dumplings, and the portion was satisfying for the price!
Samsam Milmyeon mul milmyeon ₩9,000

The mul milmyeon has a slice of boiled pork (suyuk), half a boiled egg, shredded cucumber and seasoning paste on top of icy broth with slush floating in it. I drank the broth first, and it was clean and refreshing!

The noodles themselves were chewy and good too. The thickness is medium, neither too thin nor too thick, so they have a nice bite.
Samsam Milmyeon large bibim milmyeon ₩10,000

The bright red bibim milmyeon doesn't come with sauce to mix yourself; the kitchen mixes it all before serving. The sauce soaks well between the noodles, which makes it tasty. It's definitely more intense than the mul milmyeon, but not very spicy, just pleasantly hot.
It had a spicy yet sweet-and-sour savory flavor, and it was delicious in a different way from the mul milmyeon.

Dumplings are a must at a milmyeon place!

The dumpling wrappers are chewy and good. They were tasty just dipped in soy sauce.

They're even better eaten together with the milmyeon >< It made the meal even more filling.
Is Samsam Milmyeon worth it as a milmyeon restaurant in Dal-dong, Ulsan?
If you're looking for a good milmyeon restaurant in Dal-dong, Ulsan, I recommend Samsam Milmyeon! Both the cool mul milmyeon and the spicy bibim milmyeon are delicious, and be sure to order the chewy meat dumplings to go with them.
