Gyeongsan Korean restaurant, spring set & tot bibimbap: Bapeul Jitda

In short

Bapeul Jitda Gyeongsan Main Branch (밥을짓다 경산본점) is a hanjeongsik (Korean set-meal) restaurant with private rooms on Samseonghyeon-ro in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk. Taking their parents out, the writer ordered the Spring Table for 3, which ran from eggplant fritters, sous-vide cold pork and kkosiraegi (sea moss) to a beef brisket mushroom hot pot, grilled deodeok (bellflower-family root) and tot (hijiki seaweed) bibimbap, followed by coffee and chamomile from the dessert corner. Even the writer's dad, who never liked hanjeongsik, was won over, and the writer is 100% planning a return visit to Bapeul Jitda.

I wanted to treat my mom and dad to a neat, proper spread, so we visited Bapeul Jitda in Gyeongsan, a hanjeongsik (Korean set-meal) place. Even my dad, who doesn't like hanjeongsik, fell for it, so here's my review!

Bapeul Jitda Gyeongsan Main Branch: exterior and hygiene rating

Bapeul Jitda Gyeongsan Main Branch is a Korean restaurant on Samseonghyeon-ro in Gyeongsan, with a yard parking lot beside it. You can feel the "this is a good restaurant" vibe from the outside, and it gives off a formal, nice-atmosphere feel that suits bringing elders 💨

See the "Excellent" hygiene grade ⭐️ posted at the entrance? The notice that they don't reuse leftover food is very reassuring too, right~

Interior and private rooms: good for a family meeting or a parent's birthday?

The inside of Bapeul Jitda Gyeongsan Main Branch is a wide, wood-toned hall divided by curtains, with 3 rooms on one side. Even once inside, I was like, wow,, amazed. The spacious floor and clean interior instantly gave me a high-end Korean restaurant feeling. Everything is warm wood, and the curtain-style dividers added even more of a luxurious touch.

Spacious hall with wood-toned interior

One wall is entirely glass windows, and the landscaped trees outside looked gorgeous, so you can enjoy a pretty view while you eat 🌲 This is the atmosphere I fell for,,

The 3 rooms are on this side, but all were in use so I couldn't take photos. One had a birthday party going on, and the others were occupied by tables with older guests. With rooms in such a nice setting, it seemed perfect for formal occasions like a parent's birthday party, a meet-the-parents meal or a family gathering.

Bapeul Jitda menu: weekday lunch specials and seasonal sets

Okay, let's start the meal properly, haha. 📖 The menu!

Spring Table for 3: eggplant fritters, sous-vide cold pork and sea moss

Starter spread of Caesar salad, sous-vide cold pork and fried eggplant

After ordering, the starters were set out 🍴 Caesar salad, sous-vide cold pork, kkosiraegi (a crunchy seaweed) with gobchang gim (thick seaweed sheets), and fried eggplant. The surprises start here 😲 They seem like everyday ingredients, yet the taste felt refined, like Korean fine dining. I usually love eggplant, and after one bite of the fritter I couldn't believe it was eggplant. It felt like a proper dish, and the spicy-tangy sauce on top went so well with it that it tasted like eorihyang gaji (Sichuan-style eggplant) 🍆 The cold pork was so tender, not dry at all. Wrap it with the garlic chive salad, roll it up and dip it in the garlic sauce, so delicious.

Plate of kkosiraegi and gobchang gim with chojang

My mom ate this kkosiraegi like crazy. Dip it in chojang (sweet-spicy vinegar chili sauce) and wrap it in gobchang gim: tangy and crunchy, and your hand keeps going back. I think the thick gobchang gim makes it even better.

Cheese potato balls received for the review event

These are the cheese potato balls given for the Naver review event. They're hot, so popping one in whole is a disaster. Split it in half and dip it in the wasabi sauce: chewy and sweet, the kind of taste kids and adults both like 🤍 Join the event and be sure to get them~ The food never ends, so there's so much to introduce 🫶🏻

Beef brisket mushroom hot pot bubbling

Beef brisket mushroom hot pot and grilled Hoengseong deodeok

Partway through the meal, the beef brisket mushroom hot pot comes out. As expected, Koreans need hot broth.

Plate of gochujang-marinated grilled Hoengseong deodeok

Deodeok-gui (grilled bellflower root). They said they use deodeok from Hoengseong in Gangwon-do. It's gochujang-based with a smoky grill flavor, a little spicy and delicious. Deodeok takes more prep than eating, so it's hard to make at home, and here at a high-end hanjeongsik place they bring you a whole plate.

Bowl of perilla oil tot bibimbap

The star of the spring set: tot (hijiki) bibimbap

Now the star enters ✨ All the earlier dishes felt like mains, but today's star is the tot (seaweed fusiform) bibimbap. It's mild, but the perilla oil gives it lots of flavor, and it tasted so good with no extra seasoning, you could taste the ingredients themselves. The best, the best. Mix it up and yum. I scraped the bowl clean.

Free dessert corner: coffee, tea and biscuits

Bapeul Jitda Gyeongsan Main Branch has a self-service after-meal corner with coffee, tea, ice and biscuits. The wow factor never ends. The thoughtfulness of this corner covers dessert too, with coffee, tea, ice and biscuits.

There's a nice variety of teas like hibiscus, chamomile and rosemary, and ice is ready too.

Fighting heat with heat. Hot coffee, hot chamomile. A perfect after-meal moment with Dad 🤍

Restrooms and parking at Bapeul Jitda

🚻 Separate men's and women's restrooms. They're managed with a daily checklist, so they were very clean and pleasant.

There's a wide parking area for more than ten cars,

Lit landscaped area beside the parking lot

and beside the parking lot is a nature-filled space with pretty lighting. Good food in a lovely setting, a happy dinner with Mom and Dad that I made time for: a perfect ending. You have to enter via the Korean medicine university (Daegu Haany University) road, but the food makes it worth seeking out on purpose, so I'm 100% coming back! If I ever need to treat someone to a meal, this is where I'll want to come, so I saved it to My Place ⭐️

Even my dad, who doesn't like hanjeongsik, fell for it.
