I finally made it to Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong, the Dongtan Namgwangjang branch of a jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) spot famous around here. Turns out it's a well-known chain with branches in Dongtan, Incheon, Chungcheong, and more. The broth was so refreshing I had to write this up — here's my Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong review, go go!

The exterior and the weekend noon vibe

Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong has a big sign that's easy to spot when you're passing by! I'd been meaning to visit for a while since it's so well-known, and finally went on a day when I was craving something spicy to cure a hangover.

Since it's such a famous jjamppong spot, I went in with high expectations haha. Around noon on the weekend, it was nearly full. Confirmed: a true Dongtan local favorite.

Where to park?
You can park at the Daeun (surface-level) public lot right in front of the restaurant, and it's spacious with plenty of spots. *They give you 90 minutes of free parking, which was really convenient.
Interior seating and the self-serve corner

Right past the entrance is the counter, splitting the space into a left and right side. And the Bultina mascot character is way too cute haha.

The left side is a small hall with about 3 tables, mostly reserved seats.

The right side has a much bigger hall with more seating, including solo bar seating for anyone dining alone — good, there were quite a few solo diners there too.

There are about 10 four-top tables, and since it's a jjamppong place, turnover is really fast — even when it looked full, tables opened up quickly!

And at the self-serve corner you can freely refill small plates, danmuji (pickled radish), onions, and more :)

Oh, and another thing I thought was such a nice touch — they have hair ties!! Great idea 🤩 If you have long hair, it's nice to be able to tie it back comfortably while you eat.

They also had several phone chargers, and when I asked to charge my phone, staff helped me right away — loved that.
Tablet ordering and the table setup

You can check the menu and order easily right from your seat via the table tablet! You can even pay at the table — such a good system.

Soy sauce, chili flakes, and other condiments were set out on the table, and you can pull spoons, wet wipes, and tissues from the drawer under the table. They set out the basic side dishes for us, and since danmuji and onions are always welcome in more, we grabbed extra ㅎ_ㅎ

Kkomak jjamppong, ₩11,000 — how spicy is level 1?
I ordered 2 bowls of kkomak jjamppong (₩11,000)! You can choose your spice level — they said level 1 is about as spicy as Shin Ramyeon, and level 2 is about as spicy as Buldak. I went with level 1, and honestly it was less spicy than Shin Ramyeon for me! (I think I'll try level 2 next time.) If you've got confidence in your spice tolerance, I'd recommend going up a level! *You can choose from levels 1 through 4 total.
The cockles and clams were way more generous than I expected, and the broth flavor was truly top-notch .. so refreshing 🙊❤️ The moment you take a spoonful, that distinctive ocean flavor from the chewy cockles wraps heavily around your whole mouth ㅠ

If regular jjamppong broth is clean and light, kkomak jjamppong is a rich, deep broth soaked through with seafood flavor! On a day when you're craving something spicy and refreshing, or you need a hangover cure, or you just want jjamppong — I unconditionally recommend Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch!!
