Here's a board game café in Hyehwa's Daehak-ro area that I'd recommend for an indoor date: Hero Board Game Cafe Daehangno Branch. I really love board games, but my boyfriend... doesn't play with me much, you know? Boohoo ㅠㅠ So I casually asked a friend I hadn't seen in a while, and what do you know, she likes board games too! So we went on a weekday and raced through board games with the unlimited pass, haha.
Where is Hero Board Game Cafe Daehangno Branch, and what's it like?

Hero Board Game Cafe Daehangno Branch is a 1-minute walk from Hyehwa Station Exit 2, so it's very easy to get to. There are small theaters, prop shops and plenty of other things to see and do nearby, so it's perfect for a date!

I've been to lots of Hero Board Game Cafes, and you know each branch is a little different, right? The Daehak-ro branch was spacious and pleasant, so it was comfortable to use, and you can play pool here too!
How much is the weekday unlimited pass at Hero Board Game Cafe Daehangno Branch?

The weekday unlimited pass at Hero Board Game Cafe Daehangno Branch is ₩5,000 per person, adults and teens alike. Maybe because it was a weekday, we were lucky and got in right away with no wait. It was my first time at this branch, so we followed the owner's instructions for using the place.
- Adults: ₩3,000 per hour for everything in the café, weekdays and weekends alike
- Teens: ₩2,000 per hour on weekdays only; on weekends and public holidays it's ₩3,000 per hour, same as adults
- Unlimited pass: ₩5,000 per person for both adults and teens, weekdays only
If you love board games, come on a weekday and you can play until you're honestly sick of it, hahaha.

If you write a Naver receipt review or a Kakao review, you can also get a snack, so it's worth doing if you're interested.
Rooms and seating at Hero Board Game Cafe Daehangno Branch

Hero Board Game Cafe Daehangno Branch has 2 rooms with round tables where everyone can face each other while playing,

plus a bunker room where you take your shoes off, and regular table rooms. The regular table rooms have 4-person or 6-person tables, and we were shown to a 4-person table~
Menu and ordering rules at Hero Board Game Cafe Daehangno Branch
Hero Board Game Cafe Daehangno Branch requires one menu item per person, so we ordered drinks. There are also things that work as a meal or dessert, like chicken, takoyaki (octopus balls), fries, tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), hot dogs, rice bowls, ramyeon, and churros, so you can eat while you play!

They have alcohol like cocktails too, and I wondered whether to order one, but I went with a yuja berry ade (citron and berry soda) haha. It tastes just like a drink at a regular café!
How do you choose a board game?
At Hero Board Game Cafe Daehangno Branch, after ordering a drink you can browse on the tablet or look around the hall in person and then choose. There's a wide range: strategy, deduction, psychology, bluffing, and plenty of the trendy murder mystery games too. I also filmed a slow look at what kinds of games they have, so check the video.

Things you need for games, like mats, paper, pens and squeaky hammers, you just grab yourself~

5 board games I tried with the weekday unlimited pass
Squadro: a good first game, a 2-player abstract strategy game
Squadro is a 2-player abstract strategy game that takes about 20 minutes once you know it. It was my first time playing, and the rules aren't hard, so it's a good game to start with. Briefly: each player has 5 pieces, and you succeed by sending them across and back again. But if the opponent captures your piece, it goes back to the start ㅠㅠ You have to be good at reading your opponent and mind games, hahaha.

Terraforming Mars: the space strategy game we gave up on after 2–3 rule run-throughs
Terraforming Mars is a space strategy game about Mars for 2–5 players, and even once you know it, it takes 90–120 minutes on average. My friend said she'd played it just once at her parents' house, so I brought it over, but... we gave up after going through the rules 2–3 times, hehehe. There are so many rules, and so many cards and resources... I'd only recommend it if you have plenty of time, hahaha.

Patchwork: an easy 2-player Tetris-style strategy game, even for beginners
Patchwork is a 2-player Tetris-style strategy game that takes 15–30 minutes once you know it. You fill your own board with patches, but they're all different shapes and your opponent can take the patch you wanted, so you have to think through several moves here too! But it's easy, hahaha, so even board game beginners can play it with no trouble!
Carcassonne: the tile strategy game my friend liked best
Carcassonne is a worker-placement tile strategy game for 2–5 players that takes 30–45 minutes once you know it. You expand land, castles and so on according to the tile pictures, and there are several ways to score points within that! It's one of my favorite games, and my friend said this was the most fun for her too, haha. It takes a bit of time, but the rules aren't hard, so definitely give it a try!

Lord of the Rings: Duel for Middle-earth: an easy 2-player mind game once you learn the rules
Lord of the Rings: Duel for Middle-earth is a 2-player psychological strategy game that takes 30–45 minutes once you know it. I haven't even seen The Lord of the Rings (it doesn't matter) and it was my first time playing, so learning the rules took longer than I expected, hahaha. Once you get the rules, the game itself is fairly easy, and this one was fun too, hehe.

Besides board games, are there arcade machines and a Nintendo?
Besides board games, Hero Board Game Cafe Daehangno Branch has 2 arcade machines by the counter. It was a weekday and pretty empty, so we could play at our leisure, haha.

There's a Nintendo too; see the photo for the game list. They say the Nintendo is that much fun, right? Maybe I should try it next time, haha. There are separate men's and women's restrooms, and bring your own tissues when you go~
The short version
Hero Board Game Cafe Daehangno Branch is an indoor date spot in Hyehwa's Daehak-ro area where you can play board games with a weekday unlimited pass. Besides board games, it's a multi-game room with pool, arcade machines, a Nintendo and more.
