In short

Wine Stein Seochon is a wine bar on the 3rd floor of a building in the Seochon alleys of Jongno, Seoul, that sells wine and small goods and lets guests drink bottles bought in the shop right at their table. On an evening date, the writer chose a Portuguese white, Minho Verde green wine (49,000 won), and paired it with the owner's recommended baked brie (23,000 won). Thanks to its warm wood-tone interior and the fun of picking a bottle, Wine Stein Seochon is a recommended evening date spot near Gyeongbokgung Station.

Not sure where to go for a date in Seochon? You want a glass of wine at a nice wine bar, but nowhere too stuffy or too loud. Well, the place I want to introduce is the Seochon wine bar Wine Stein!

Wine Stein has a gorgeous wood-tone interior, and unusually, it sells small goods as well as wine. You can pick out a bottle to buy, and drink it right there in the shop. Choosing wine plus browsing the goods? Perfect date spot, right? haha Okay, let's get into the detailed review :)

Where is Wine Stein in Seochon?

Wine Stein is a wine bar in the Seochon alleys, at 3F, 9-2 Pirun-daero, Jongno-gu, Seoul. It seemed to double as a brunch spot during the day, but I visited in the evening as a wine bar. Note that the Naver Map address says 3rd floor!

Since it's in the Seochon alleys, it's a nice stop after wandering around the neighborhood. I especially recommend it if you're looking for an evening date spot near Gyeongbokgung Station.

The most surprising thing about Wine Stein! It's a wine bar, but it also sells small goods. Usually at a wine bar you just sit at a table and order wine and snacks, right? But Wine Stein has goods for sale all around the space, so browsing is fun too.

Wine is sold separately too, so you can buy a bottle you like. What I loved most was that you can drink the wine you bought right at your seat in the shop.

You pick what to drink while looking over the wine and also browse the goods, so it feels a little different from a typical wine bar! A place like this naturally gives you things to talk about on a date. If you're looking for a slightly different Seochon date course, I think you'd like it.

Do you have to order a bottle at Wine Stein?

Baked brie snack at Wine Stein

When I visited in the evening, ordering a bottle of wine was required at Wine Stein. You can't just order a single glass; you have to pick a bottle, so keep that in mind before you go!

I wanted a refreshing white wine, so I chose a Portuguese one, and I asked the owner for a snack recommendation. I asked what would pair well, and they recommended the baked brie. So I ordered it without a second thought haha

🍷 Minho Verde green wine (49,000 won)

The wine I ordered at Wine Stein this time was the Minho Verde green wine (₩49,000). It's a Portuguese white wine blended from Loureiro, Trajadura and Arinto grapes.

The description on the menu was exactly my taste: a subtle fizz and a fresh, cool green-grape feel!

When I drink wine, I prefer a crisp white like this over something heavy and rich. Minho Verde green wine is known for a fresh green-grape fruitiness and light bubbles, so I think even people who find wine intimidating can approach it fairly comfortably.

The subtle fizz makes it feel a bit livelier than an ordinary white wine. And if you don't know much about wine, the menu description alone will give you a sense of the style. If you like fresh white wines, it's worth a look!

🧀 The owner's pick: baked brie (23,000 won)

For the wine snack, I ordered the baked brie (₩23,000) on the owner's recommendation! At a wine bar, it can be hard to know what to order, right? Different wines probably suit different snacks, too.

So I asked the owner what would go well with the white wine I'd chosen, and they recommended the baked brie. At times like this, you just have to trust the owner's recommendation lol

Baked brie served with biscuits

Wine Stein's baked brie comes with biscuits. You can enjoy brie's soft, rich flavor together with the biscuits. Put the cheese on a biscuit and you get crunchy texture with soft cheese, a combination that works well as a wine snack.

Since the wine I ordered was a fresh white, the richness of the cheese was nice alongside it. I'd recommend it if you want something light to go with wine rather than a heavy, filling dish.

Is Wine Stein a good Seochon wine bar for date night?

If you're looking for a nice wine bar in Seochon, I'd recommend Wine Stein. I liked the warm mood of the wood-tone interior, and a space that sells small goods and wine together was impressive. Choosing a bottle yourself and drinking it at your seat was especially fun.

This kind of vibe is so good for a date, right? haha If you're looking for an evening date spot in Seochon or near Gyeongbokgung Station, give it a visit. I especially recommend this Seochon wine bar to couples who love wine.
