What is Chat Baker, the brunch café in Gongdo, Anseong, like?

Chat Baker (챗 베이커) is a two-floor bakery café that has become known by word of mouth as a brunch spot in Gongdo, Anseong. I was looking for a place where I could quietly write on my laptop, or chat over brunch with like-minded friends, and that is how I ended up at Chat Baker.

It is also a café near Anseong Farmland, and it is a satisfying place whether you go alone or with a group.

Where is Chat Baker and how is the parking?

Chat Baker sits inside the 512 Square complex on Seodong-daero in Gongdo-eup, Anseong, Gyeonggi. The parking lot is wide enough that even beginner drivers can park comfortably. It is easy to reach for anyone looking for a big café in Pyeongtaek or Anseong, so it is convenient whichever town you come from. It is also close to Anseong Farmland and Starfield Anseong, which makes it a nice stop on a drive or weekend outing.

The parking lot is so big and spacious it barely needs mentioning, and you walk straight from the lot into the café, so getting into Chat Baker is effortless.

Step inside and you notice the open two-floor layout and the stylish plant interior. It feels chic and airy. The wide-open first floor is neatly arranged with the coffee and bakery counters, and it all looks delicious.

Cakes and breads displayed so temptingly... and that toasty aroma hits your nose. Be careful: there's a side effect, your hand keeps reaching for more.

No carrot juice at Chat Baker this time

With that coffee aroma in the air, you can't not order. Honestly, I wanted the carrot juice, but there were so many orders that the blender broke, they said~ So the carrot juice is postponed to next time. And it's my daughter-in-law's absolute favorite carrot juice place, too! What a pity~ Next time, for sure!!! Instead, he and I picked up the menu items we both like and headed up to the second floor.

The reason we as a couple love Chat Baker's second floor is the moon jar zone (달항아리, a round white porcelain jar). Every time we visit, it's why we head upstairs. And that's not all:

The LP zone keeps you standing there looking around for a long while. It reminds me of the music listening rooms from my university days.

Is Chat Baker good for working on a laptop?

The second floor has seats with convenient power outlets, so it was a perfect place to bring a laptop and write. The tables are spaced widely, so you can talk without worrying about the people around you, and the high ceiling and large windows give an open, airy feel.

We settled into the inner seats on the second floor and enjoyed it like a little retreat. I stretched both legs out, then leaned back against the cushions. The other guests all around looked happy too. On one side there is a water garden with gently flowing water, and comfortable floor seating on a wooden platform.

Who would I recommend Chat Baker to?

Chat Baker is spacious and pleasant, so it's good for a calm solo visit to get work done, and just right as a meeting café for brunch with friends or a group chat. Joining the receipt review event for a moment and then enjoying a crisp, tasty salt bread (a buttery roll) is a smart move.
