Uijeongbu bakery for 3 new fresh fruit mochi flavors: Byway Bakers

I went to Byway Bakers a while ago and loved it so much I kept thinking about it, so when I heard the Cheongsa main branch had new fresh fruit rice cakes, I rushed over to pick some up! I also tried a new flavor of Wakppu salt bread. Here's my review, right now!

Where is Byway Bakers Cheongsa Main Branch, and where do you park?

Byway Bakers Cheongsa Main Branch (바이웨이 베이커스 청사본점) is at 26 Cheongsa-ro 5beon-gil, Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi, in Gyeongnam Building, 1st floor, Unit 109, and it's open daily 09:00–20:30 (last coffee order 19:30). It's a 6-minute walk from Gyeonggido Office North Annex Station on the Uijeongbu light rail, so public transport works well too.

There's a parking lot in the Gyeongnam Building, across from Womanpia Women's Hospital, so driving is easy too. You get 1 hour free, so tell the staff when you buy something. One catch: the lot goes up to the 5th floor and there's no elevator, so you have to take the stairs! Just a heads-up!

What's in the Byway Bakers display case?

The first thing you see when you walk into Byway Bakers Cheongsa Main Branch is the showcase, with Wakppu salt bread and soft, chewy fresh fruit rice cakes inside! I loved the fresh peach Wakppu salt bread last time, so this time I went with blueberry. And the fresh fruit rice cakes were one of the reasons I came!! I bought one of each kind. So excited!

Next to the showcase there are financiers in every flavor, plus salt bread, egg tarts, croissants, pie manju (filled pastry) and more. There's so much variety that choosing is really hard.. haha. I stood there for ages. I spotted a new financier flavor and grabbed it right away: sweet potato matang (candied sweet potato)!! It looks delicious just sitting there.

The fresh blueberry yogurt Wakppu salt bread (₩8,500) is packed with blueberries and yogurt, so it's fresh and sweet. Last time I put on plastic gloves to break it and ruined it.. haha. This time I smashed it with the wrap still on.

Hahaha, seriously, why does this matter.. I got Mom to take the photo^^ It made a proper crunch sound. Success this time.. haha. So proud. Anyway, that's not the important part, taste is what matters!! It's loaded with blueberries and loaded with yogurt, so it's fresh, sweet and delicious. Recommended!

Byway Bakers' 3 fresh fruit mochi: which flavor is best?

The fresh fruit rice cakes at Byway Bakers are tangerine, Shine yogurt and choco banana, ₩4,800 each, and the writer says all three were delicious. Fruit mochi is super hot right now, and pricey too. Here the price is lower than other places and the size is on the big side.

Personally, I loved them all.. what do I do.. I can't pick.. The tangerine, need I say more.. the juice is no joke.. fresh and sweet. The Shine Muscat one comes with yogurt, so it's even sweeter and so good, and if you like sweet things, definitely try the choco banana!

The rice cake skin is chewy and soft, and even after two days in the fridge it was exactly the same. So chewy, amazing..

How sweet is the new sweet potato matang financier?

The sweet potato matang financier (₩3,200) is coated in sugar on the outside, so it's crunchy and very sweet!! It was the second new item I was looking forward to, and I'd recommend it to anyone with a sweet tooth too.

I ate it last, after all the other breads, so maybe that's why it felt too sweet to me. Mom says this one is the best!! If you like new releases, give it a try haha
