Why we went to Downtowner Yeouido: a MacBook pickup and a date with my kid

Downtowner Yeouido is the burger place we stopped at for dinner on the day I picked up a MacBook at Apple Yeouido. I was recovering from a trip to Fukuoka, watching an anime, when I suddenly remembered the MacBook I had pre-ordered.

Apparently if you order this way, you can pick it up at Apple Yeouido the very same day, and I got stuck wondering: Pro.. or Air..? Upgrading meant paying ₩700,000 more, but I told myself "this is a money-making machine," switched, and planned a date with my kid.

How was parking at Yeouido IFC Mall?

IFC Mall in Yeouido always seems crowded, no matter when you come. The parking lot alone is a real mess, but I was lucky and found a spot close by.

Since I bought a MacBook, they gave me 5 hours of free parking. On the way I was worrying "what about the parking fee..", and well, after spending ₩3 million, I guess they do give you 5 hours.

Downtowner Yeouido location: ground floor of One Sentinel, right next to IFC Mall

For dinner we decided on burgers at Downtowner, on the ground floor of One Sentinel right next to IFC Mall.

It was right at dinner time, so office workers were pouring out of the Yeouido buildings. They all looked like well-paid finance and securities people, and I secretly thought they looked cool. I did wonder whether everyone had grown their assets with Samsung Electronics and Hynix..

Anyway, if you head to the side of the One Sentinel escalator, you'll see Downtowner Yeouido right away.

Downtowner single vs double, and set price

At Downtowner, single and double are split by whether the burger has 1 patty or 2. As shown on the right side of the menu, you can add ₩4,900 to switch to a set that comes with fries and cola.

What are the atmosphere and seating like?

You order at Downtowner Yeouido through a kiosk, and most of the tables are set up so one or two people can eat comfortably. Restaurants around IFC Mall in Yeouido definitely have that clean look. Classy..

It was a little after quitting time, so the place was quiet.

There were lots of new burgers too, but I ordered the most basic bulgogi burger for my kid and the Downtowner for myself.

The spicy onion pickles at the Downtowner self bar

At the self bar in Downtowner Yeouido you can grab cola and ice, but there's something different from an ordinary burger place!

It's these spicy pickles. One side is pink onion, the other is red onion, and when you're eating a burger it can get greasy, right!? This red onion pickle goes so well with the burger. The taste reminds me of Costco..

My wife has been away for a week, so I tied my kid's hair and it came out crooked, hahaha

Downtowner Double and Egg Bulgogi: how was eating them with my kid?

Downtowner Yeouido serves even its burgers in a very classy paper box? or something like it. We ordered one as a single item and one as a set. My kid can't finish a whole burger anyway because they're so big.

For myself, I ordered the Downtowner Double with 2 patties. It totally feels like a handmade burger.

This is the Egg Bulgogi I ordered for my kid, and it's something kids can easily eat. When the burger came out, the cola was the first thing we got ready!

The burger is as big as my kid's face. It's way bigger than a McDonald's burger.

I brought over some onion pickles, and you can tell at a glance I grabbed way more red ones, hahaha. After a week in Japan, I need some spice..

Downtowner fries and bun

The fries in the Downtowner set are fairly long and thick. In thickness they feel similar to Burger King's?

A two-patty burger.. eating a luxurious burger in Yeouido. Funnily enough, the top and bottom buns are a bit different. The bottom bun is softer than the top one. I don't know why, but the burger is really delicious.

Wrapping up a Yeouido date with my kid

I took a photo to send my wife to show we're doing fine, and next we'll head to Yeouido Park for some scooter riding, then go home and finish setting up the MacBook.

Parking in Yeouido is scary expensive, but once you come here you can feel what office-worker life is like, and I think that's nice.
