Yeonsinnae jokbal restaurant with mul naengmyeon: Gwihanjokbal
In short
Gwihanjokbal Yeonsinnae is a jokbal (braised pig's trotters) and bossam restaurant at the start of the Yeonbit Street alley near Exit 7 of Yeonsinnae Station in Eunpyeong, Seoul. The writer and a younger sibling ate the medium-size Gwihanjokbal and mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth) in the dining hall, and enjoyed the chewy skin, moist meat, sweet-and-sour noodle broth and full spread of side dishes. Gwihanjokbal Yeonsinnae is worth recommending for a tasty jokbal meal, a family get-together or a group dinner.

Where is Gwihanjokbal Yeonsinnae?
Gwihanjokbal Yeonsinnae is a 4-minute walk from Exit 7 of Yeonsinnae Station (Lines 3 and 6, GTX-A). It sits right at the start of the Yeonbit Street alley, so access is very good, haha.

I went to Gwihanjokbal Yeonsinnae with my younger sister to get a delicious protein fill.

- Fri–Sat 14:00 – 01:00
- Sun 14:00 – 22:00

What is the dining hall like?
The hall at Gwihanjokbal Yeonsinnae is wood-toned, clean and bright overall. The tables are roomy, there's a comfortable gap between them, and the chairs are comfy too, which I liked.

There were families eating out and friends having drinks. Whatever the group, Gwihanjokbal is a safe bet!

How varied is the menu?
Gwihanjokbal Yeonsinnae has close to twenty main jokbal and bossam (boiled pork wraps) dishes alone. I think it's the first time I've seen a jokbal place with such a wide menu, haha.

Gwihanjokbal, half-and-half jokbal, Gwihan bossam, Bojok set, Bobulbobul, flame-grilled half-and-half jokbal, spicy flame-grilled fire jokbal, charcoal flame-grilled jokbal, naengchae jokbal (jokbal with chilled salad), Uiseong-style garlic jokbal, Uiseong-style garlic bossam, Sokcho-style kodari jokbal, Sokcho-style kodari bossam

Gwijok Triple Set, Gwijokbaeng-i, spicy sea snail salad bossam, spicy sea snail salad jokbal & bossam, oyster bossam

So this is the menu! There were so many options that I wavered over the garlic jokbal, then went with the classic basic jokbal…! I'm curious about the naengchae jokbal and the kodari jokbal too!! The sides are seriously varied as well, from seafood soft tofu stew, fish cake soup and spicy hangover soup to makguksu, naengmyeon and kodari naengmyeon, haha.
What does the table setup and basic side dishes look like?
The table at Gwihanjokbal Yeonsinnae is already set with small plates, shot glasses, paper cups, wet wipes and even a bottle opener. You don't have to call the staff, which is handy, haha. And there's a call bell too!

The water was super cold, with ice in it. It was a tea, like barley tea, and since I can't really drink plain water, I loved that! Once you order, the bean sprout soup comes out first. So refreshing…✨

The sauces, side dishes and vegetables are set out like this, all at once as one spread, so you feel well looked after. I think it would be even better to bring your parents or elders here.

The basic setup is kimchi, aged kimchi, radish kimchi, salted shrimp, special sauce, ssamjang (seasoned dipping paste), perilla leaves, lettuce, carrot, cucumber and garlic!
How did the medium Gwihanjokbal taste?
The medium Gwihanjokbal was packed with everything from chewy skin to moist lean meat. Here's how it looked when it came out, hahaha. It's a generous spread, isn't it~~?

Neatly laid out, here is today's star: the medium Gwihanjokbal.

It was full of everything from the chewy, collagen-rich skin to tender, moist meat.

See how tall it stacks?🥹 Good good
Mul naengmyeon with the jokbal
I wavered between makguksu (buckwheat noodles) and mul naengmyeon, and since it was hot I ordered the mul naengmyeon. The bowl was big, which I liked, haha. The portion was large, so my sister and I shared it! The broth is sweet, sour and savory, so with jokbal you can just keep slurping nonstop.
The special sauce and aged kimchi were great

I liked the ssamjang and the sauce in the middle! It's spicy, sour and sweet, pairs well with the meat and is a bit fresh, so I ate a lot of it! Kimchi matters too, and all of it was good🥹 And especially the aged kimchi…! It was zesty and refreshing.
Is there a takeout discount?
I hear people living near Gwihanjokbal Yeonsinnae can get a discount on takeout, so stop by on your way home from work💨 It's a perk only for nearby residents… don't miss it.

Is it a good jokbal restaurant in Yeonsinnae?
Eat well until you're full, then take a stroll🚶♀️ Yeonsinnae has clothing shops, claw machines, karaoke rooms and more nearby, so it's also a perfect meeting spot, haha.
