Aewol pork noodle shop: tender bone broth pork, dried radish, Handam
In short
Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch is a pork noodle (gogi guksu) restaurant on Aewol-ro in Aewol-eup, Jeju, with floor-to-ceiling windows and an ocean view from every seat. A couple shared bone broth pork noodles (10,000 won), dongchimi bibim noodles (10,000 won) and pork dumplings (7,000 won), and the writer, who usually spits out tough meat, finished all the pork for the first time because it was so tender. Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch is an easy sea-view lunch in Aewol for a bowl of pork noodles.

If you come to Jeju, you have to eat pork noodles (gogi guksu), right?! Here's my story about Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch (한담국수 곽지애월점), an easy lunch spot if you're traveling around western Jeju or spending the day in Aewol :)
Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch: hours and parking
The restaurant is open daily 10:00–16:00, with last order at 15:30, and closed on Thursdays. There's room for a few cars in front, and if it's full, Aewol Handam Parking Lot (the Randy's Donuts lot) and Handam Trail Parking Lot give you 1 hour of parking support!

Handam Parking Lots 1 and 2 don't get parking support, so check the lot name before you pull in.
Inside Handam Guksu: is every seat really an ocean view?

The shop is small, but it has quite a few tables, and every seat has a big picture window with an ocean view, so you can eat while looking at the sea ^^ It's popular with families, and there were plenty of high chairs too!
Order by tablet, in Korean, English or Chinese

You order from a tablet at each table, and you can switch the language between Korean, English and Chinese! Maybe it's because Jeju has so many Chinese tourists these days, but it was a very global menu.

I took a photo of the tablet menu, but it was backlit and hard to read.. so I'm using the menu image the restaurant provided on Naver instead, haha.
We wanted to share a bit of everything, so my husband and I ordered one bone broth pork noodles, one dongchimi bibim noodles (cold radish-water mixed noodles), and pork dumplings as a side!! There's also a mala pork noodle for spicy-numbing fans, so you can pick to your taste.

Pepper, salt and chili flakes are set out on the table, and the spoons and chopsticks are in the drawer under the table.
What's at the Handam Guksu self-bar?

There's a self-bar at the front of the shop where you can help yourself to side dishes, small plates and kids' tableware :) It was kept super clean, so my trust in the hygiene went UP!!
Bone broth pork noodles, dongchimi bibim noodles and dumplings: prices and taste

Ta-da, our order arrived! Bone broth pork noodles are ₩10,000, dongchimi bibim noodles ₩10,000, and pork dumplings ₩7,000. Doesn't it all look so neat and tidy?! haha

After the food came out, I brought kimchi and dried radish pickles (mumallaengi jangajji) from the self-bar, and both went perfectly with the noodles, so I recommend trying them together!!

Bone broth pork noodles: milky broth and pork that stays tender to the end
The bone broth at Handam Guksu is milky and rich, a lunch that's easy on the stomach even if you drank a lot the night before. (I bet it'd be amazing as a hangover cure too, lol)
The pork on top of noodles is usually too tough and I often leave it, but here the pork was super tender and really delicious!!! I'm the type who spits out meat if it's even a little tough lol, and this was the first noodle bowl where I ate all the pork.

Dongchimi bibim noodles: a broth that mul-naengmyeon fans will love
For the dongchimi bibim noodles, you pour in all the dongchimi broth that comes with it and toss everything together. The cold broth, the tasty sauce, the lean pork, and the crunchy cucumber and bean sprouts all came together nicely! Sipped on its own, the broth tasted just like dongchimi naengmyeon broth, so anyone who likes mul-naengmyeon (cold broth noodles) will be hooked.

Pork dumplings: thin wrappers, packed filling
The pork dumplings I ordered as a side were great too. Thin wrappers and a packed filling, so there's no way they'd be bad, haha.
Where to walk after eating at Handam Guksu
After eating, just a 5-minute walk takes you to Aewol Café Street and the Handam Beach walking trail, and there are lots of Jeju-style little gift shops, so browsing is fun too!! We bought gifts for friends at a shop and also stopped by a café next door called Cheonsudang ><
If you're looking for an Aewol lunch spot in Jeju where you can eat pork noodles with an ocean view and there's plenty to see nearby, I recommend Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch!
