Gunja Station hair salon: medium brown gray coverage, Wedon Hair

In short

Wedon Hair Gunja is a reservation-first hair salon on the 2nd floor near Exit 3 of Gunja Station in Gwangjin, Seoul. Because her hair was damaged from frequent dyeing, the writer chose a gentler gray coverage color in medium brown instead of an all-over dye, plus a trim of the damaged ends and a blow-dry. The gray around her part was neatly covered, her hair looked smoother, and the medium brown looked even brighter in natural light, which left her happy with Wedon Hair Gunja.

Why I chose Wedon Hair Gunja near Gunja Station

I booked through Naver and went to Wedon Hair Gunja (위든헤어 군자), a hair salon near Gunja Station, for gray coverage and a change of mood. I'd been on a break, I'm starting a fresh round of work next week, and the weather's turning chilly, so I was feeling a bit restless~ I wanted a pick-me-up, and the grays creeping in every time I looked in the mirror were bugging me too. So I searched around for a good salon and found Wedon Hair Gunja, which was exactly what I was looking for.

Wedon Hair Gunja hours and location

Wedon Hair Gunja opens every day at 10:30 AM and stays open until 8 PM. It's easy to reach on foot from Exit 3 of Gunja Station, and what made it even better was my designer, who was skilled and kind.

The way up to Wedon Hair Gunja on the 2nd floor

Heading up to the salon on the 2nd floor, the first thing I noticed was the white-toned, wide-open space. Maybe because it's on the 2nd floor, it gets great light and has a nice view, so it felt really pleasant.

Even though it's right by a station, the prices were fairly reasonable, and with a membership you can get treatments for even less.

What was the consultation at Wedon Hair Gunja like?

At Wedon Hair Gunja, my designer gave me a one-on-one consultation covering face shape, head shape and how to care for my hair. The designer in charge of my hair today was a good-looking guy who explained everything in a calm, gentle voice. I asked all sorts of things, like which hairstyle suits my face shape, the downsides of my head shape, and how to care for my hair, and he never showed a hint of annoyance and answered every single one kindly. I was endlessly touched.

I liked even more that this salon aims for one-on-one, tailored hair consulting that brings out each customer's own mood and strengths.

Damaged hair? Gray coverage instead of all-over dye

My hair was quite damaged from frequent dyeing, so instead of all-over dye I decided to do only gray coverage, keeping damage as low as possible, and we matched the color to a medium brown. Honestly, I'd been torn between dyeing everything to change my whole look or just covering the grays that had grown in a lot.

Patchy hair color and grays before gray coverage dye

It had been a really long time since I last dyed my hair, but I didn't realize it was this bad. The color was patchy and messy-looking, and with the grays on top it made me look somehow older!! Oh my gosh!! 😭😭

How the gray coverage color was done

Preparing for the gray coverage dye
Spraying scalp protector before dyeing

The gray coverage dye at Wedon Hair Gunja started with spraying a scalp protector. Maybe because they use premium products to minimize irritation to hair and scalp, I felt no stinging or discomfort at all during the whole treatment, which was great.

Dye being applied carefully to the gray areas

It had been so long since my last gray coverage that I worried the colors would look disconnected. But the designer applied the dye carefully, focusing on blending the regrown gray areas naturally with my existing hair color, which put me at ease and made me trust him even more.

Coffee enjoyed while waiting after the dye was applied

While waiting after application, I gave my still-groggy, up-early brain a strong shot of caffeine~

Trimming damaged ends and a blow-dry

It wasn't just the dye. To make the change of mood complete, I also had the damaged ends trimmed this time. He's a male designer, but you could feel the soft, delicate, professional touch of his hands.

After the cut, he blow-dried to bring back volume at the roots and gently tucked the ends inward, finishing with a calm, natural style that doesn't feel overdone. I was so satisfied!! He's so skilled and has such good sense that he styles everything beautifully on his own without me having to say much. I loved that.

Before & After

Gray coverage before and after: what changed?

The first thing I noticed after the gray coverage was that the grays that had stood out so much around my part were covered very neatly! I'd also worried about the line between my existing hair and the regrown gray area, but it feels naturally blended.

What I liked most was how my hair felt after dyeing!

Calmer hair texture after dyeing

I'd worried that frequent dyeing would make my hair even rougher, but when it was done, my hair felt calmer and softer and swished more than I expected. What a surprise! The ends looked smoother too, without any splitting.

Hair ends tidied up with a trim

With the ends tidied up, my whole head of hair definitely looked healthier and neater.

Medium brown hair color in natural light

Brown that looks even more charming in natural light!

Medium brown dyed hair in natural light

The medium brown gray coverage looked brighter in natural light than indoors. After the dye, cut and blow-dry, I stepped outside and looked at my hair in natural light, and it had a different kind of radiance from indoors, with a glossy shine that made my face look brighter and livelier. I thought, I'm so glad I also took care of the damaged ends after dyeing!

Wedon Hair in Gunja doesn't just make your hair pretty the moment you leave the salon. They also teach you easy styling methods you can do at home, which made me think again about how important home care is.
