Indian lamb curry brunch in Jeongja: lamb palak gosht at Kari
In short
Kari Bundang Jeongja Café Branch is an Indian curry restaurant in the basement shopping arcade of Dongyang Paragon in Jeongja-dong, Bundang, Seongnam. On a weekend, two friends ordered 2 Shah Jahan brunch courses and ate a naanwich (naan sandwich), lassi, potato soup, tandoori chicken salad, tikka masala lamb and lamb palak gosht (lamb and spinach curry) with naan and basmati rice. The lamb palak gosht at Kari was perfectly seasoned and good enough to crave again.

Where to park for Kari Bundang Jeongja Café Branch
I heard you can park by entering the Building 105 underground car park at Dongyang Paragon, so that's where I drove in. It was the day I came to Bundang to see a friend ❗️ Maybe because it was a weekend, there were quite a lot of cars, but I found an empty spot and parked safely 🚗

I could see the entrance to the shopping arcade from the car park, and when I went in there were a few restaurants, and I spotted today's destination too: Kari, an Indian curry restaurant in Jeongja, Bundang.

Inside Kari: atmosphere and seating
Kari Bundang Jeongja Café Branch is quite spacious inside, with a black-toned interior that feels calm. We were shown to a table further back.

What's in Kari's Shah Jahan brunch course?
Kari's Shah Jahan brunch course is also available at weekend lunch, and the lineup was printed on the big menu sitting on the table. The moment I saw it I decided, that's the one 👀
- Naanwich
- Soup of the day
- Tandoori chicken salad
- Curry
- Naan or rice
- Coffee or any drink (alcohol excluded)

Even though it was the weekend, the tables were almost full. Still, the neighboring tables were fairly far away, so it didn't feel like we were being disturbed, which was nice.

How to order at Kari, plus the first course: naanwich and lassi
At Kari Bundang Jeongja Café Branch you order by QR code and pay on your way out. We ordered 2 Shah Jahan brunch courses, and the first things to arrive were the lassi and the naanwich.

Something like a bite-sized burrito showed up, and that was the naanwich. I guess the name is naan + sandwich? ❓
The lassi (a yogurt drink) came in mango and strawberry. I wondered about plain, but I suddenly craved mango so badly that I picked mango, and my friend went with strawberry 🍓
I really loved the huge individual plate ❗️ At that size it's so easy to scoop a bit of everything onto it. Small bowls make me spill, so I'm not a fan.

The naanwich, an Indian-style sandwich, was totally nutty and delicious. The filling seemed to be tandoori chicken with vegetables, topped with cheese, and all wrapped in naan, so it was a can't-go-wrong dish.

The lassi, which we were told to mix well, was dense, like really thick. Because of that it doesn't mix easily, so I mixed a bit and gave up, while my friend mixed all of it with indomitable willpower. Wow, so cool 🙊
Soup of the day: potato soup
The soup of the day in the Shah Jahan brunch course that day was potato soup 🥔 It was a rich, hearty potato soup and I was moved from the very first spoonful 🙊 There wasn't a lot, but you can't fill up on soup anyway, so it was actually just right.
Salad, curry, naan and rice served together
Next came the tandoori chicken salad (with mango sauce), lamb palak gosht, tikka masala lamb, plus 2 naan and rice, and the table filled up in no time ❗️
The two slightly plump naan were plain naan on the left and butter naan on the right. The butter naan was nicely golden, and the plain naan had a clean, tidy look. The bigger the naan, the more appetizing, I think.

How were the tikka masala lamb and lamb palak gosht?
The tikka masala lamb curry nicely balanced the tang of tomato with the smoothness of cream, and the lamb palak gosht was a nutty, mild curry made with fresh spinach, lamb and coriander.

We both love lamb, so we ended up choosing lamb for both, and the result was very satisfying ❗️ The tikka masala was only 1 chili 🌶️ yet it was quite spicy. (So how spicy is 3 chilies?)

The lamb palak gosht had a little coriander on top, and it was an amount where I wished they'd given a bit more 👀 Still, the coriander definitely made the aroma pop, which I liked. I ate it sparingly . .
The lamb palak gosht was so good I'd give it number one among all the palak paneer-style dishes I've had ❗️ I'd never had one where both the seasoning and the flavor were this perfect. My eyes went wide as soon as I tasted it 👀 Usually it's a bit mild and I'd tell myself, well, that's what it's meant to taste like, but trying Kari's, it's not like that at all.

The tandoori chicken on the salad was tasty too, and with the mango sauce on top it was seriously the best 🫶🏻

Butter naan loaded with lamb curry
Tear the butter naan into strips.

Pile on plenty of curry and eat it, and how good do you think that is ❓ Kari's naan has a bit of thickness, so it's satisfyingly chewy, soft and nutty. I could eat it as plain bread every morning. Both curries were delicious, but the lamb palak gosht was seriously amazing. I want to eat it again right this second.

Lamb curry with basmati rice
The rice is basmati, said to be India's traditional rice, nicknamed the flying rice. It goes so well with Indian curry that if I'm having rice, this is the one I like.
Scoop a bit of everything onto the wide plate, buffet-style, and eat.

Is the Shah Jahan brunch course at Kari in Jeongja worth it?
The tikka masala curry went so well with rice. It was a bit spicy, but the lamb was so good, and it's one of those bewitching curries you keep wanting more of. The two of us cleaned every single plate. Bundang has plenty of great restaurants, but I think coming to Kari for Indian curry was a really good choice. A perfectly satisfying meal, the end 〰️
