Powdered soy milk for pre-workout fullness: Garu Seonsaeng Seoritae

In short

Garu Seonsaeng Powdered Fresh Soy Milk Seoritae 99.3 is an unsweetened powdered soy milk in stick packs that I mixed with water before personal training. It was nutty, not sweet, and more filling than going on an empty stomach, though a seven-stick box can run out quickly if you drink it every day.

I received this product to use. I often skip breakfast, so lately I have been trying to have at least a glass of soy milk. This time, I tried an unsweetened powdered soy milk that you mix with water.

Which flavor did I choose, and how much was it?

Garu Seonsaeng Powdered Fresh Soy Milk comes in three flavors: Seoritae 99.3, Jeju matcha, and mugwort. Since I usually like Seoritae soy milk, I chose Seoritae 99.3.

What are the ingredients, and was it easy to store?

I tend to check the ingredients when choosing a product, so that was the first thing I looked at.

Ingredient information for Garu Seonsaeng Seoritae soy milk

There were just two ingredients: Korean Seoritae black soybeans and sun-dried salt. I liked the simple ingredient list, and the product description saying it contains the whole soybean, from the skin to the pulp, also stood out to me.

The powder had a jade-like color. Since it comes in powder form, I could mix it with water whenever I needed it.

Garu Seonsaeng Seoritae soy milk packaging

The best-before date on the product I received was Dec 21, 2026. At the time, I felt that gave me plenty of time to finish it. Each box contained seven 20 g sticks.

The individual packs were easy to take out one at a time and did not feel burdensome to carry in my bag. I could easily tear open the top of each stick by hand without scissors. I also liked that they took up less space than carrying liquid soy milk.

How much water should you add, and what did it taste like?

The directions are to add one 20 g stick to 100–120 ml of water and mix thoroughly. You can enjoy it with cold or hot water, depending on your preference.

Seoritae powdered soy milk mixed with water

I added one stick to water and mixed it thoroughly before drinking it. Since all I needed was water and one stick, I thought it would be easy to have even on busy mornings. I could adjust the consistency by using less water for a rich, thick drink or more water for something lighter.

It had the clean, nutty flavor distinctive to Seoritae black soybeans. It was not overly sweet, so the savory soybean flavor came through clearly, which suited my preference for plain soy milk over sweet soy milk.

My husband, who does not usually like soy milk, drank it well too, saying it was nuttier than he expected. I was surprised that he enjoyed it despite not normally having soy milk.

What was it like before a workout?

Since starting personal training, I have paid more attention to protein intake. This product states that one serving contains 8.1 g of plant-based protein, so I drank a serving before going to work out.

For me, it felt more filling than going to personal training on an empty stomach, and strength training felt a little easier too. It suited me when I had skipped breakfast or wanted a simple drink before a workout.

Besides mixing it with water or milk, the product says it can be used as a base for Seoritae kongguksu (cold soybean noodle soup). I only tried it mixed with water and have not made kongguksu yet.

What would make me buy it again, and what was disappointing?

At the time of the original post, it was described as a product sold only in limited quantities at Olive Better. I liked the Seoritae flavor, so I became curious about the Jeju matcha and mugwort flavors that I had not tried yet.

Introduction to Garu Seonsaeng powdered Seoritae soy milk

I liked the simple ingredients of Korean Seoritae black soybeans and sun-dried salt, the easy storage and portability of the stick packs, and being able to adjust the consistency with the amount of water. Still, since a box contains only seven sticks, it could run out sooner than expected if you drink it every day. It fit well into my routine when I wanted an easy, clean-tasting, nutty unsweetened soy milk.
