Sindang salon: 7-level matte gray coverage on bleached ends, Oreudeubi
In short
Oreudeubi Sangwangsimni Station Branch (오르드비 상왕십리역점) is a hair salon on the ground floor of the Centras shopping arcade, between Sangwangsimni Station and Sindang Station in Seongdong, Seoul. The writer had stress-related gray hair along the part and at the back of the head, plus bleached ends, covered with an all-over 7-level matte gray coverage dye using vegan dye. The dye caused little scalp irritation, and the scalp acupressure in the massage-chair shampoo room was a highlight. Verdict: gray coverage at Oreudeubi doesn't have to turn out black and can come out in the matte tone you want.

Maybe it's the stress lately, but my gray hair has suddenly gotten a lot worse. It used to be one or two strands here and there, but now every time I flip my part over, the grays stand out.
I'd been putting off gray-hair dye because I assumed it had to be dark and black, but it turns out gray coverage doesn't have to come out black. You can get a pretty matte brown too!! I went to Oreudeubi Hair (오르드비헤어), a hair salon in Sangwangsimni that uses a premium vegan dye (one the salon says is safe for pregnant clients), for an all-over dye.
Short version: I loved the color, and my hair finished off soft too, so I was really happy with this all-over dye.
Where is Oreudeubi Sangwangsimni Station Branch?
Oreudeubi Sangwangsimni Station Branch is on the ground floor, between Sangwangsimni Station and Sindang Station. Go into the building where you can see a Coffee Bean. It's close to Sangwangsimni Station and easy to reach from Sindang Station too, so you can use either station, which is a plus.
If you're looking for a salon near Sindang Station, the location works well, and access was decent. I came for an all-over dye, and since dyeing takes a long time, about 1 hour 30 minutes, location matters.

30% off perms and dyes on your first visit
Oreudeubi Hair had a 30% off first-visit perm and dye event. They also have drinks and snacks, with Illy coffee and different kinds of treats. I was craving something sweet, so I loved that!

Can gray coverage dye look natural instead of black?
In the consultation at Oreudeubi Hair, I was told gray coverage doesn't only come in black; it can be done in a matte tone. This consultation was one of the things I liked most about the all-over dye.
The designer carefully checked my current hair condition, my previous dye color and the tone I wanted. I explained that my gray hair had increased a lot, maybe from stress, and that the grays around my part bothered me most. After looking at my hair, she recommended gray coverage dye rather than regular dye.
And gray coverage isn't only black! I usually prefer a calm, matte feel over reddish tones. I said I wanted to avoid anything too dark or heavy, and she said matte gray coverage was possible. So this time I went with a matte all-over gray coverage dye.

I liked getting gray coverage in a color I actually like. The designer listened to my opinion and recommended what suited me, so I was happy from the consultation onward. We decided on level 7, a natural color!

Before: bleached ends below, gray hair on top
Before dyeing, my hair was bleached at the bottom and messy on top because of the gray.

I had a huge amount of gray at the back too.

Does the vegan dye irritate the scalp?
Oreudeubi Hair used a vegan dye for this all-over dye, and there was little scalp irritation during the treatment. The salon explained that it's a dye pregnant clients can have too, though during pregnancy, vegan or not, it's best to check with your doctor depending on your own condition.
I don't like it when my scalp stings or feels irritated while dyeing, and this time it was fine. When applying the dye, they carefully checked the part and the areas with lots of gray, and made sure the color blended naturally overall.
While the dye was on, Americano and snacks were provided. Unlimited coffee and snacks was nice too. An all-over dye takes quite a while, but I could wait comfortably with a coffee.

She kept checking whether my scalp stung, so attentive. Touching… And she was so friendly that we chatted about her nephew and all sorts of things, so it wasn't boring at all and was actually fun.

What is the massage-chair shampoo and scalp acupressure at Oreudeubi like?
The shampoo room at Oreudeubi Hair has massage-chair beds, and they do scalp scaling and scalp pressure massage too. Personally, this shampoo room was what I liked most about Oreudeubi Hair.

The massage chair in the shampoo room was really good. You get a massage in the chair while getting your shampoo, and it's way better than I expected. After sitting for ages during the dyeing, lying down in the shampoo room and getting my body massaged too was so comfortable.
On top of that, they do scalp scaling and scalp pressure massage, and it felt amazing. The scalp pressure massage especially was done really well. They pressed every corner of my scalp, and my eyes closed on their own. The pressure was just right and the touch was great.
I usually enjoy getting my hair washed at salons, but the shampoo time at Oreudeubi Hair was especially satisfying. The scalp scaling felt refreshing, and after the shampoo my scalp felt clean too. Lying in the massage chair with the scalp pressure massage felt like melting away tiredness, and I wanted it to last a bit longer.
Matte gray coverage before and after: how does the hair feel?

The level 7 matte gray coverage all-over dye came out in the calm, matte tone I wanted, and the gray was neatly covered. After the dye and blow-dry were done, I really liked the color.
With gray dye, I worried my hair would look too black or heavy, but it was nothing like that. The color was even all over and looked less red, so it felt much cleaner. Above all, I liked how classy the color looked. It's a calm matte color, neither too light nor too dark, so I think it'd be easy to maintain day to day.
And my hair actually felt better after dyeing. After an all-over dye, hair can get a bit stiff or dry, but this time it was very soft after blow-drying. It felt soft and glossy to the touch, which I was happy about. Of course, dyeing itself doesn't repair damaged hair, but right after the treatment my hair looked really good.
Maybe because they only use premium products like Ayunchae and Milbon, the shampoo smelled great and my hair didn't get damaged.

The part, which had a lot of gray, was covered naturally and looks much neater.
How to care for gray coverage dye and how often to redo it
I was told that for about a week after gray coverage dye, some pigment may wash out a little when you shampoo. After the all-over dye, the designer also explained how to care for it.
She said gray-coverage dye has twice the pigment of regular dye, so the color should last longer than regular dye. About every 3 to 4 months seems like a good schedule for redyeing!

They told me not just about the color right after dyeing but also what's good to know for home care, so I felt they were thorough to the very end. Since this was my first gray coverage dye and I had questions, I appreciated the detailed explanations from the consultation through aftercare.
Verdict on matte gray coverage dye at Oreudeubi Sangwangsimni Station Branch
Getting an all-over dye at Oreudeubi Sangwangsimni Station Branch changed my thinking about gray coverage a lot. I used to think that once gray increases, you have to dye it black or dark brown, but gray coverage in the matte color I like was totally possible.
- The consultation was thorough and my desired color was well reflected, so I was satisfied.
- Scalp irritation was low during dyeing and my hair was soft afterward.
- The shampoo room's massage chair, scalp scaling and scalp pressure massage were really good. The scalp massage felt so good I still remember it.
