Hamdeok black pork BBQ with kids on day two, mushrooms: Jeju Samchun
In short
Jeju Samchun (제주삼춘) is a black pork BBQ restaurant near Hamdeok Beach in Jocheon-eup, Jeju City. On the second evening of a Jeju trip, the writer's family ate the Joka Set (500g, 60,000 won) with the kids; staff grilled the neck and five-layer pork belly, and the back-of-neck fat cut and the whole pork belly kimchi stew from the review event were all satisfying. Jeju Samchun suits families with kids who want dinner and then a walk straight over to Hamdeok Beach.

Day two in Jeju: black pork dinner with the kids in Hamdeok
On the evening of day two of our Jeju trip, we went to Jeju Samchun (제주삼춘 함덕해수욕장 흑돼지), a well-known restaurant near Hamdeok Beach 🥩💗 After running around Jeju all day with the kids, we really wanted a hearty dinner 🙂

It had great ratings, so we went, and after eating I understood why so many people come!!! 😊
Where is Jeju Samchun, and what is it like inside?
Jeju Samchun is close to Hamdeok Beach, so it's an easy stop during a trip. The exterior is clean and tidy, so we found it quickly! 👍🏻

It was also easy to move on to the next stop after eating ☺️ Inside, the tables are spaced widely and the whole place felt comfortable!!

From the window seats you can see a Jeju stone wall and a small garden, which made for a nice atmosphere, and it was a relaxing space to eat with the kids 💛
Best of all, even on a weekday evening... there were so many customers!!!

Guests kept coming in the whole time we ate, so I figured this is a real local favorite too 💙
How to order at Jeju Samchun, and menu prices
You order easily with the kiosk at each table! (Check the photos for detailed prices ⭐️)

The menu descriptions are detailed, so it wasn't hard even on a first visit,

and with photos and prices shown together, choosing was easy haha. Here's what we ordered.
- Jocha Set (500g, ₩60,000)
- Steamed rice (₩1,000)
- Steamed egg (₩3,000)
- Naver review participation: Samchun kimchi stew (₩0)

The kimchi stew was so good it was hard to believe it was a freebie, which made us even happier! 😊
Jeju black pork aged for 300 hours at low temperature
They say Jeju Samchun uses Jeju black pork that is wet-aged at low temperature for 300 hours and then smoked with grapevine!!
Seeing the aging fridge packed with meat, I could feel their confidence in the pork, and it got me even more excited 🥩🥩🥩
What side dishes come at Jeju Samchun?
The side dishes were set out before the meat arrived! They also prepared children's tableware for us 🍴
The sides include pollock roe sauce, white kimchi, seaweed, pickled radish slices, marinated scallions, seasoned cucumber,

lettuce and other wraps, garlic, meljeot (salted anchovy sauce), breadcrumb salt and more

It was a generous lineup, and every side went well with the meat 💗 It was fun to mix and match to your own taste 🥰
Each person's small plate even has a space for sauces, which was comfortable and practical throughout the meal 👍🏻
Joka Set grilled by staff, so looking after the kids was easy
The Jocha Set is neck and pork belly, and the thickness is something else 🤎 And then, the Jocha Set arrives!!! 🤗
The staff grilled it for us... 👍🏻 and being able to eat comfortably while looking after the kids was sooo nice 😍
How did the Jeju black pork taste?
One bite and I understood why it's called a Hamdeok Beach must-eat!!!!

The meat was so juicy... 😍 and the savory richness got deeper the more I chewed!! 🤎

Especially... the fatty nape meat was totally my taste 😭💗 Grilled thin, it stayed wonderfully chewy and had a nutty flavor too, the best cut for me!
Grilled mushrooms and different ways to pair them
It wasn't just the meat that was good!

The mushrooms grilled alongside were moist and fragrant, really tasty,,,,, 🍄🟫 And besides breadcrumb salt, pollock roe sauce and wraps,

you can even wrap it in seaweed, so there were lots of ways to enjoy it ^^👍🏻

Changing the combination bite by bite, we never got tired of it and enjoyed it even more!!!
The free review-event Samchun kimchi stew is a real bargain
The Samchun kimchi stew we got for the review event was also better than expected ❤️ It's a freebie, so I didn't expect much, but

it had big chunks of whole pork belly in it, which surprised me! 🫢 The spicy, deep broth with well-ripened kimchi and tofu went really well with the grilled meat too ❤️❤️❤️

It's the kind of stew that makes you polish off a bowl of rice 🤗
Steamed egg (gyeran-jjim) the kids loved
The steamed egg (gyeran-jjim, ₩3,000) is made to order, so it came out really moist and soft! 🐣 Maybe because it uses anchovy broth, it was rich in flavor, and the kids ate it up 💛
After finishing our full meal, we wrapped up with a Coke Zero and a Fanta 🥤☺️
From dinner straight to Hamdeok Beach
After a hearty black pork dinner with the kids, we headed to Hamdeok Beach!

We ended the day with sand play and water play haha 👍🏻
From the quality of the meat to the service to the review event, everything satisfied us, so it's a place I want to come back to on our next Jeju trip... Jeju Samchun 🥩 I'd say 200% I'll return,,,, 🥩❤️
