After a meal at Garden5, of course you want a cup of coffee, right!? We had eaten and were wandering around looking for coffee and dessert when we spotted a spot with a crowd gathered. It was Wunder Coffee Bar's Garden5 branch, a café that opened recently!

I was curious since it's newly opened, and it turns out you can have your affogato with hojicha (roasted green tea) ice cream ヾ(•ω•`)o It's a bit different from the usual vanilla ice cream affogato, so I had to visit, haha. So let me tell you about this Garden5 café where we had a coffee dessert with a twist ☕️

Where is Wunder Coffee Bar Garden5, and what are the hours and parking?

Wunder Coffee Bar Hyundai Outlet Garden5 branch is on the B1 food street on the Techno building side of Garden5, 66 Chungmin-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul. It's open daily 10:30–20:30 (last order 20:00), and parking is free for 4 hours regardless of how much you spend.

The café is about 100 m from Exit 4 of Jangji Station, on B1 of Garden5. It's inside the food street, right in front of the escalator across from VIPS, so it wasn't hard to find.

We found it while looking for somewhere to get coffee after our meal. It had only just opened, yet there were quite a lot of people,, and it turned out that day there was a receipt event where you could get coffee for ₩3,000! I think that one-day event was part of why it was so busy~

Is there seating at Wunder Coffee Bar Garden5?

The shop doesn't have its own café seating inside! You can sit and eat at the tables and chairs the food street shares.

So it's less a place to sit for hours in a nice atmosphere, and more a place to have a quick coffee or dessert after a meal at Garden5, like we did.

Wunder Coffee Bar menu and prices: what did we order?

The signature items are the Wundergato (₩7,200) and Wunder Coffee and soft serve (₩6,500 each), and we ordered the Wundergato + Wunder Coffee set (₩13,200). The menu also had an Americano, lattes, Cream Matcha and Matcha Einspänner, among others.

  • Americano ₩5,000
  • Cream Matcha ₩6,800
  • Matcha Einspänner ₩6,800
  • Wundergato ₩7,200
  • Wunder Coffee ₩6,500
  • Soft serve ₩6,500

For the ice cream you can choose hojicha, vanilla, or a mix (hojicha + vanilla). We wanted to try several items, so we went with the set, Wundergato + Wunder Coffee for ₩13,200, which is a little cheaper.

By the way, the coffee shot in the Wundergato can be switched to decaf (+₩1,000)! After some thought I picked hojicha for the ice cream, since it felt like Wunder Coffee Bar's signature~

Ice cream flavor choices and set order at Wunder Coffee Bar
Ordering a Wundergato with hojicha ice cream

I'm used to a basic affogato with vanilla ice cream, but I'd never seen one with hojicha ice cream, so I was curious what the Wundergato,,, would taste like, haha.

What does the hojicha Wundergato taste like?

Two Wunder Coffee Bar drinks: coffee and an ice cream dessert

Maybe because it was so busy that day, we waited about 10 minutes after ordering before we got our drinks. Finally, our coffee dessert! A sweet coffee and ice cream combo that looks like it can't possibly taste bad, hahaha.

Wundergato topped with hojicha ice cream

I tried the Wundergato first! Since I chose hojicha ice cream, it had a slightly brown tint unlike regular vanilla ice cream 🤎🤎 I know hojicha is tea made by roasting green tea, and even the color gave off that nutty tea feel, and when I took a bite it was even better than I expected!

The hojicha ice cream itself has a faint, slightly bitter tea aroma along with a nutty flavor! Honestly, at first I wondered about picking vanilla, but since it's Wunder Coffee Bar's signature menu, I went with the signature flavor, hojicha! It turned out to be a really good choice, haha.

Spooning into the hojicha Wundergato

Best of all, as the ice cream melts little by little and mixes with the decaf shot underneath, the taste changes again (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧ The sweet ice cream gets the bitterness of the coffee, and the hojicha aroma lingers faintly, so it was a different kind of affogato.

I especially liked the Wundergato,,, Next time I visit, I definitely want to have the hojicha ice cream Wundergato again!🩵🤎

Is the Wunder Coffee cream latte too sweet?

Wunder Coffee is a cream latte with cream on top. The cream is sweet but doesn't bury the coffee aroma. One sip and the cream was so sweet, perfect for a sugar boost after a meal, hahaha.

I ordered the Wunder Coffee with the regular coffee shot, not decaf, and the coffee aroma had a nice, moderate weight! Even though the cream is sweet, the coffee flavor didn't feel completely lost, and you could enjoy the coffee's own aroma too.

The Wundergato with its hojicha twist and the sweet cream latte Wunder Coffee! The two have different charms, so I was glad we ordered the set, haha.

Is Wunder Coffee Bar Garden5 worth a return visit?

Wunder Coffee Bar Hyundai Outlet Garden5 branch doesn't have separate seating, but the coffee and dessert were better than expected!! The Wundergato with hojicha ice cream especially had a charming nutty, bitter tea aroma, and I liked how it blends naturally with the coffee as the ice cream melts~ The sweet cream latte Wunder Coffee was also just right for a sugar boost, haha.

If you're looking for a café near Jangji Station and Garden5 works for you, Wunder Coffee Bar has a special menu among Garden5 cafés, so give it a look. I especially recommend the different kind of Wundergato made with hojicha ice cream, haha. It was tasty enough that I'd happily order the hojicha Wundergato again next time~
