Where is Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread Main Store, and is parking easy?
This Sokcho bakery is a bakery café in a quiet spot with a view of Seoraksan. It's close to Kensington Resort Seorak Valley, Pine Ridge CC, Yeongnangho CC, Sokcho Beach and Sokcho Central Market, so it's easy to drop by from several directions. A large parking lot in front of the store makes parking convenient.
I visited this Sokcho bakery. The flashy exterior is impressive, and Bultan Gamja Bread is

There's a large parking lot in front of the store, so parking is easy.

Heading in through the main entrance, a notice says they sell Sokcho's famous Bultan Gamja Bread (burnt potato bread) as gifts. Burnt potato bread? I was curious what kind of bread that is.

Inside Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread Main Store: seating and drinks
Inside, there's a spacious area where you can enjoy coffee, ade and tea. It's famous for its potato bread, but the space is so comfortable and stylish that I thought it would be nice for brunch during a Sokcho trip too.

What is the Mustoy ceramic toy workshop at Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread?
You can also try Mustoy, a ceramic art toy, here. Mustoy was created through a collaboration between a commercial film director and a Pororo designer, and you finish the ceramic doll by drawing or writing on it.
It's great to do with kids, and as a date course it would make a special memory.

What is Bultan potato bread, the gift I bought?
At this Sokcho bakery I bought the two signature snacks, Bultan Gamja Bread and Sokcho jjondeugi, as gifts. I like stopping at local favorites on my travels and bringing gifts back, and this time my Sokcho gifts are Bultan Gamja Bread and Sokcho jjondeugi.

Each box holds 4 Bultan Gamja Breads! They bake potato bread every morning, capturing the colors of Sokcho in Gangwon, and it's tasty and healthy, which makes it perfect for gifts. The squid ink bread keeps the natural flavor of the potato and is flavored with cream cheese and butter, they say.
Bultan potato bread delivery, freezing and microwave reheating
Bultan Gamja Bread can also be delivered by courier,

and it can be frozen. According to the instructions, room-temperature potato bread goes in the microwave for 20 seconds; frozen bread goes in for 30 seconds, then flip it and add 10 more seconds, and it tastes great.

Why is Bultan potato bread black?
Potato bread that's black? I looked it up: the black color comes from squid ink, capturing the colors of Sokcho. Gangwon potatoes are baked every morning to bring out their natural sweetness, and the surface is coated with a powder ground from black sesame, black beans and black rice, which improves the look and adds nuttiness, they say.
It contains no synthetic additives, so the shelf life is short, but to offer healthy food they follow a rule of making and selling it the same day. With 4 per box, it would also work well as a thank-you gift to hand around.

What flavors does Sokcho jjondeugi come in?
The Sokcho jjondeugi sold here is an upgraded take on a national snack. It comes in three flavors: squid, red crab and dakgangjeong.

Squid jjondeugi
Red crab jjondeugi

Dakgangjeong jjondeugi. These three flavors give jjondeugi the colors of Sokcho. With no synthetic additives, eating them right after buying the same day gives you the properly chewy texture, and heating them in the microwave for 20 seconds makes them even better.
Is Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread Main Store worth it for Sokcho souvenirs?
A Sokcho bakery I found on my Sokcho trip! Sokcho's famous Bultan Gamja Bread, plus jjondeugi made in the flavors of Sokcho specialties red crab and squid, and dakgangjeong, are packaged nicely for gifting, so if you plan to buy gifts, it's worth a visit.
