While looking for a good place near Balsan Station in Gangseo, I visited Byway Bakers Balsan Station, a bakery known for its bread. I love bread and am always hunting for new bakery cafés, and I'd heard they bake their own bread and sell lots of desserts and baked goods, so I went. This time I just stopped by to pick up some bread to take away, and it was more satisfying than I expected.

How did the salt bread and financier taste?

On this visit I took away the salt bread and financier from Byway Bakers Balsan Station.

Salt bread: crisp outside, soft inside, rich butter flavor

First, the salt bread. The golden-brown surface looked delicious just sitting there. With the first bite, the outside was crisp and the inside moist, and the butter flavor came through richly. A subtle saltiness was added, keeping that plain, simple charm.

The more I chewed, the nuttier it tasted, and the balance of butter and salt was good, so it never felt heavy. I could see why it's called a salt bread hotspot.

Salty financier: lightly crisp outside, moist and chewy inside

Next, the financier. Personally I think a salty financier lives or dies by its butter aroma and moist texture, and this was better than I expected. It was slightly crisp outside, and moist yet chewy inside.

From the first bite, the nutty aroma of butter filled my mouth, followed by a gentle sweetness. It wasn't too sweet, so it was easy to eat, and I think it would go even better with coffee. It left a clean aftertaste, which I liked.

What to try next time at Byway Bakers

Besides salt bread and financiers, the display had plenty of other bakery items. Popular ones like wakppu salt bread, mango yogurt wakppu salt bread and egg tarts caught my eye, and I definitely want to try them next visit.

Final verdict on Byway Bakers Balsan Station

Byway Bakers Balsan Station felt like a bakery that sticks to the basics rather than flashy looks. I got the impression the bread is made carefully with good ingredients, and as a bakery that makes its own bread, the freshness was clearly there.

I think anyone who likes bakeries will be happy with it among the places around Balsan Station and Gangseo. It's good for spending a relaxed time in a stylish Gangseo café mood, and also for buying a Gangseo dessert gift or a baked-goods gift set.

To sum up: the salt bread charmed me with its crisp texture and butter flavor, and the financier impressed me with its moist texture and nutty taste. Baking in the shop made the freshness excellent, and the kiosk ordering and baby chairs add convenience. Next time I'll go back for the egg tart and wakppu salt bread.
