What is the HEEDA Jirisan Charcoal Cleansing Balm?

Worried about blackheads and sebum management, I tried the HEEDA cleansing balm. It was a black cleansing balm built around Jirisan bamboo charcoal as its main ingredient, and it came with a built-in spatula.

It was labeled as also containing naturally derived ingredients like mugwort, moringa, camellia oil, jojoba, and houttuynia cordata. It could be ordered online, and the price at the time of writing was ₩25,900.

How well does the HEEDA charcoal balm remove makeup?

When I first tested it on the back of my hand with a heavy tattoo lip tint, the cleansing balm alone removed it. I didn't even use an additional cleansing foam, and it still came off pretty cleanly.

How to use the cleansing balm: rolling and emulsifying

First I washed my hands and dried them, then scooped out an amount the size of a 50-won coin and rolled it over my whole face. The balm melted smoothly and glided like oil, which made rolling easy.

After rolling it into every corner for 1-2 minutes, I kept rolling while gradually adding lukewarm water to emulsify it. Once it emulsified, I rinsed it off thoroughly.

How oily skin felt after more than a week with HEEDA

Using it for over a week, makeup removal was definitely solid. Whenever I cleanse carelessly or use a product that doesn't suit me, sebum in my nose pores tends to stand out, but after using this, I felt like the area around my nose was kept a bit cleaner.

Maybe because of the moisturizing ingredients, my skin felt hydrated even after cleansing. On days when blackheads or pore sebum bothered me, I'd do a light rolling cleanse in the morning too, and I found myself needing a separate sebum softener less.

For my oily skin, being able to handle cleansing and sebum care in one step was convenient. That said, results may vary depending on your skin condition.
