Suseong Korean restaurant for spicy beef blood soup: Jeju Seobine

My husband and I visited Jeju Seobine Haejangguk, Manchon Direct Branch (제주섭이네해장국 만촌직영점) in Manchon-dong, Suseong-gu, Daegu. We tried it through a review program, but I liked the spicy broths in both dishes enough to save it as a place to return to as soon as we left.

Is it easy to visit by car?

The restaurant is on the first floor at 947 Gukchaebosang-ro, Suseong-gu, Daegu. There was a large parking area in front, which made it convenient to visit by car.

The interior was clean, too. With convenient parking and a varied menu, I thought it would be fine for a solo meal or a meal with family.

What did we order?

The menu had several dishes besides hae-jangguk (hangover soup). Jeju hanchi mulhoe (raw squid in chilled broth) caught my eye, but that day my husband and I ordered one spicy beef hae-jangguk and one haejang meat kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) each.

How were the ingredients and broth in the spicy beef hae-jangguk?

The spicy beef hae-jangguk contained beef and seonji (congealed ox blood). It had generous portions of both ingredients, making it filling, and after our first bite, my husband and I told each other it was delicious.

Adding plenty of garlic gave it a pleasantly sharp, spicy flavor. My husband enjoyed it while working up a sweat, too. I think it would suit anyone who usually likes spicy broths and seonji.

Was the haejang meat kalguksu filling on its own?

We ordered one hae-jangguk and one kalguksu because we wanted to try each, and I liked the spicy broth in the haejang meat kalguksu, too. I was satisfied with both dishes.

What I especially liked was that a bowl of rice came with the kalguksu. After eating the noodles, I mixed the rice into the remaining broth, which made for a quite filling meal. As someone who likes noodles, I found the haejang meat kalguksu a satisfying choice as well.

Did I want to return after the meal?

After we finished our meal, they gave us yogurt. I finished the hot, spicy meal with cool yogurt.

My husband and I both finished our bowls. Although I visited through a review program, it is a place where I would like to pay for another meal next time. I am also curious about the Jeju hanchi mulhoe that we did not try this time and would like to have it on my next visit.
