Is it easy to find near Jeon Cheol-u Intersection?

Craving jokbal (braised pork hock), I visited Kkankkanhan Jokbal Yongbong Branch (깐깐한족발 용봉점) in Yongbong-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju. I had enjoyed another branch of the same brand before, so this time I chose the nearby Yongbong branch.

It is near the entrance to Jeon Cheol-u Intersection, and the sign and storefront were clearly visible, so it was not difficult to find. The original post lists its hours as daily from 4:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with alley parking available.

What is it like for a meal with friends or a group?

Once inside, the restaurant was more spacious and tidy than I expected. The atmosphere was comfortable too.

The tables were spaced comfortably, so I did not feel cramped while eating. It seemed suitable for visiting with friends or a partner, and there was also a table holding a group gathering when I visited. The atmosphere also suited having a drink with jokbal in the evening.

There was a baseball game that day, so I could watch baseball while eating at the restaurant.

What comes with the half-and-half jokbal?

It was convenient to check the menu on a tablet. I ordered the half-and-half jokbal, with half charcoal-grilled jokbal and half spicy fire-grilled jokbal. It was a good option when I did not want to settle for just one flavor.

While waiting for the jokbal, fish cake soup, steamed egg, and salad arrived as the basic side dishes. All three suited my taste.

The drinking water had a nutty flavor. I could not tell what kind of tea it was, but it tasted good enough that I kept drinking it.

The half-and-half jokbal came in large and extra-large sizes, and I chose the large that day. Usually, when two of us go out, I order a medium charcoal-grilled jokbal. When the order arrived, it had such a glossy sheen that I took photos before eating.

I could also see the jokbal being grilled directly at the restaurant.

How were the texture and heat of the spicy fire-grilled jokbal?

It tasted even better eaten warm. I liked the pleasantly chewy texture in every bite.

Being able to alternate between the charcoal-grilled and spicy fire-grilled jokbal was better than having only one flavor. It also worked well for choosing according to each person's preference when dining with someone else. I especially liked the seasoning on the spicy fire-grilled jokbal.

I tried it plain and in different combinations with the food that came alongside it. It looked like a lot at first, but once I started eating, it disappeared more quickly than expected. I am not very good with spicy food, but the spicy fire-grilled jokbal did not feel very hot to me, and my stomach felt fine afterward.

Are there other menu and takeout options?

The menu also included garlic jokbal, old-style king jokbal, and bossam (boiled pork wraps). I was told there was also a takeout discount, but the original post does not state the discount amount or detailed conditions.

This time, I was satisfied with the half-and-half jokbal that let me try two flavors together. I would like to return when I am craving jokbal near Jeon Cheol-u Intersection, and next time I would like to try another menu item.
