Gangnam Station cocktail bar with hookah: apple-mint for two at Ugly

Where is Ugly in Gangnam Station, and when is it open?

Ugly is a cocktail bar on the 5th floor of a building at 5 Gangnam-daero 96-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, about 129 m from Gangnam Station Exit 11. It is open 18:30–02:00 Monday to Thursday and Sunday, and 18:30–03:00 on Friday and Saturday. Wi-Fi and group seating are available.

My boyfriend and I had a glass of draft beer each, then came to Ugly near Gangnam Station for hookah (water pipe)! This is the entrance. It's on the 5th floor, but there's an elevator, so just ride up.

What is the atmosphere inside Ugly?

The ceiling inside Ugly is overwhelming, so the moment the elevator opens and you step in, you can't help saying "wow." See the ceiling? It feels like another world, so it seems perfect for a blind date near Gangnam Station.

The lighting is soft, so it's perfect for hiding my red, tipsy face. Inside... what is that ceiling.. why is it so pretty. It was Sunday and there were loads of people. There are even rooms inside like this, so you can drink quietly.

Next time I'm definitely having cocktails inside. This is the bar where they make the cocktails! There are two bartenders. Aren't the colorful bottles behind the bar so pretty too?

It feels like they cared about every single decor item. There are so many bars in Gangnam that many are totally empty on Sundays, so I was surprised Ugly had quite a few customers.. wow.

Looking at it again, the inside is sooo pretty..♡ Isn't it dreamy? The lamps on each table are really pretty too.

Where can you smoke hookah at Ugly?

At Ugly, hookah (water pipe) is only available if you sit on the outdoor seats. The inside was so pretty that I wanted to sit there, but they said hookah has to be outside, aw.

But guess what, the outdoor area was cool and breezy, and it has lights too, so it was nice. Another charm.. another mood, good good.

Even the cover of the menu had an artistic feel.

Ugly menu and house rules near Gangnam Station

Ugly's rule is one menu item per person, and there are other notes too, like birthday cake being the only outside food allowed! Looking at the menu, you can tell they're serious about cocktails.

There's a wide range of cocktails, drawn as pictures so they're easy to understand, with descriptions too. Everything looked so good that I really agonized over what to order.

What hookah flavors are there?

Ugly's hookah comes in apple, lemon, melon, mint and peach, and they said apple and peach sell best. You can also mix them, so we ordered apple-mint! There's a food menu too (I want to try the food next time).

Ooooh, here comes the hookah. Hookah hookah hookah~ The lights keep changing color, which makes it even prettier.

The Mojito I ordered changed color too when I set it next to the hookah, so pretty.

How do the Mojito and Moai cocktails taste?

Ugly's Mojito is a cool, fresh mint flavor, and the Moai is sweet, so it suits cocktail beginners. The Moai is huge for one woman's hand. When I used the flash, the Mojito was packed with mint, totally my style.

It had gotten dark and I couldn't see properly. Especially you, the black Moai! I carried it over to the light for a shot. So that's what you look like.. a shot of the two of them, both so pretty.

I recommend the Mojito to anyone who likes a cool, fresh mint taste, and the Moai was sweet. I recommend it to cocktail beginners! This Moai is huge in a woman's hand and you might drop it, so be careful!

Apple-mint hookah taste and charcoal refill price

The mint in Ugly's apple-mint hookah isn't as strong as I expected, so I recommend it if you want something mild. It had been a while since my last hookah, so I blew smoke out of my mouth and my nose~

A charcoal refill is ₩3,000, but the smoke came out well and there was so much of it that we didn't need one.

Looking at the night view, sipping tasty cocktails and smoking hookah, I'm so happy. Eating the pretzels that came as the complimentary snack, I'm wrapping up a lovely day.
