Apgujeong Chinese bar: ₩88,000 Peking duck set for 3, Mirim Yangjang

Mirim Yangjang Apgujeong is a Chinese bar-restaurant on basement level 1 of 40 Eonju-ro 168-gil in Gangnam, Seoul, near Apgujeongnodeo Station. The writer and both parents shared the ₩88,000 Peking duck set for 3: half a Peking duck, fried eggplant (chosen over kanshao shrimp), wood ear mushroom cucumber salad and mala tang (spicy Sichuan hotpot). They added the free review-event noodles to the mala tang. Mirim Yangjang's duck set for 3 left all three people full, and the writer would happily go back.

Gangnam bar-style Korean BBQ: rib set and doenjang stew at Yuklab

Yuklab Gangnam is a Korean BBQ restaurant serving beef and lamb chops on the 2nd floor near Exit 11 of Gangnam Station, Seoul. The writer started a night out with a close older friend over the ₩64,000 rib set for two and 2 highballs, ₩82,000 in total, and was impressed by the bar-like interior, the colorful table spread and the doenjang (soybean paste) stew packed with ingredients. Yuklab Gangnam's rib set is a good fit for two people who want to try beef and lamb chops in one meal.

Unlimited cocktail bar in Gangnam, Seoul: Chocolate Banana Cow, B LAB

B LAB Gangnam Station Main Branch is an unlimited-cocktail bar with no time limit, on the 2nd floor near Exit 11 of Gangnam Station in Gangnam, Seoul. After a dinner of beef and lamb ribs, the writer and her older sister came for a second round on the ₩18,000 unlimited deal. They drank 10 cocktails between them, including a tonic highball, Okbodan, Chocolate Banana Cow, Hawaii Cow and B LAB Pair, with butter popcorn on the side. Verdict: if you like sweet cocktails, B LAB's Chocolate Banana Cow is the one to order.

Sashimi restaurant in Jamsilsaenae with ₩20,000 corkage: Namhae Fish

Namhae Fish Jamsilsaenae Branch is an aged sashimi restaurant on the 2nd floor near Exit 4 of Jamsilsaenae Station in Songpa, Seoul. A dinner date with Mom of two Sashimi Omakase sets at ₩39,000 per person plus one bottle of Saero soju came to ₩84,000, with a course running from mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) and porridge through aged sashimi, salmon sushi, pasta, yuringi, braised mackerel and spicy fish stew. Namhae Fish is a good pick for dinner with parents, and the writer plans to go back.

Gangnam Station bar: Jim Beam highball & Busan oden, Odeng Osaek

Odeng Osaek Gangnam Station Branch (오뎅오색 강남역점) is a Japanese-style izakaya in Seocho, Seoul, between Sinnonhyeon Station and Gangnam Station. The writer and a close friend ordered a Busan handmade oden set, mochi tofu (mochiri-dofu), Suntory and Cass draft beer and Jim Beam highballs for 64,000 won in total, and also enjoyed the free tuna crackers and a receipt-review event with a fish-shaped glass. Odeng Osaek is a good Gangnam Station bar for oden soup and a draft beer under warm orange lighting.

Jamsilsaenae rooftop bar with golden ale and whole squid: Color Bunsik

Color Bunsik Rooftop (칼라분식 루프탑) is a Korean snack-food (bunsik) rooftop bar on the top floor of a market building near Jamsilsaenae Station in Songpa, Seoul. After a raw fish dinner with her mom, the writer went up for a second round of South Pacific whole squid, soupy tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and liver-only sundae (Korean blood sausage) with the Thursday draft, Kabrewery British Golden Ale, for ₩44,000 in total. Color Bunsik Rooftop is a good open-sky spot for crispy whole squid and a fruity golden ale.

Yeoksam Korean BBQ weekend date with free corkage and Heineken: Raviok

Raviok Yeoksam Main Branch is a hanok-style beef Korean BBQ restaurant on Teheran-ro 25-gil, between Yeoksam Station and Eonju Station in Gangnam, Seoul. On a weekend date the writer ordered 2 portions of snow-flake jingalbi (beef short rib) roast, truffle egg custard and Heineken draft beer for ₩87,000 in total; corkage is free on weekends, but the Heineken draft was so cold that only beer was drunk in the end. With a fire-show finish on the jingalbi, pudding-like truffle egg custard and pump-style mouthwash in the restroom, Raviok Yeoksam Main Branch is a satisfying date-night Korean BBQ spot.

Gangnam Station cocktail bar with hookah: apple-mint for two at Ugly

Ugly is a cocktail bar on the 5th floor of a building near Exit 11 of Gangnam Station in Seoul, and it also serves hookah. On a Sunday night, two of us sat on Ugly's outdoor seats with an apple-mint hookah, a Mojito and a Moai cocktail, and paid ₩70,000 in total; the dreamy ceiling interior and the cool outdoor air stood out. Verdict: Ugly is a solid pick for a blind date or date night near Gangnam Station.
