Indong, Gumi Korean BBQ stop on a Busan–Seoul drive: Kkotdwaeji

Where is Kkotdwaeji Gumi Main Branch, and is there parking?

Kkotdwaeji Restaurant Gumi Main Branch is at 12 Indongjungang-ro 1-gil, Gumi, Gyeongbuk, and it has its own parking lot, so I parked easily and walked right in. I came for a meal, and I had no idea the main branch of the famous Kkotdwaeji was here in Gumi all along.

There's a café I always visit when I'm in Gumi, and now Kkotdwaeji Gumi Main Branch goes on my favorites list too.

The hall has a high ceiling, so it feels airy, and I went in for an early lunch and found the inside spotless. There are booth seats at the back too, which I liked. I grabbed a seat right away.

Do you get a free daechang hotpot with the gourmet set?

The staff told me that if you visit before 5pm and order the gourmet set, you get a Fukuoka-style daechang (beef intestine) hotpot, ₩30,000 à la carte, as a free service. It was the same daechang hotpot I'd seen at the entrance, so I ordered the gourmet set of special pork belly, special pork neck and special pork jowl.

Self-serve bar and side dishes at Kkotdwaeji Gumi Main Branch

Kkotdwaeji Gumi Main Branch has a self-serve bar, and the lineup is really varied, so you can pile your plate however you like.

It's an Indong restaurant that clearly takes customer service seriously. If you're looking for a BBQ place in Indong, Gumi, visit Kkotdwaeji Gumi Main Branch!

Then the table got set.. and the side dishes were just as good as I'd hoped. I can strongly recommend this Indong, Gumi BBQ spot for company dinners and gatherings, whether you want meat or drinks.

Remember: visit before 5pm, order the gourmet set, and you get the Fukuoka-style daechang hotpot for free~ I think this is the first BBQ place I've seen with a promotion like this~ Most just give you a drink, right? But Kkotdwaeji gives you a daechang hotpot that costs ₩30,000 on its own!

I came for a slightly late lunch, planning a proper meal before heading to Seoul.. and I was so, so satisfied!!! Plus the promotion bonus ^^

Do the staff grill the meat at Kkotdwaeji Gumi Main Branch?

At Kkotdwaeji Gumi Main Branch, a staff member put the special pork neck and special pork belly on the grill, along with potatoes and mushrooms. They helped with the first round of grilling, and I could see why it's called "special."

They flipped it once one side was nicely cooked~ To enjoy meat you have to grill it well, but here you can come without worrying about that.

They cut it into bite-size pieces too. With the grilling taken care of, I could just focus on getting ready to eat.

If you're hunting for great pork belly in Indong, remember Kkotdwaeji Gumi Main Branch. I don't think I'll need to go anywhere else for a café or BBQ in Indong, Gumi now.

Go for it~ I always used to recommend my favorite roastery café to friends heading to Gumi.. and now I'll recommend this BBQ place too! They're fairly close, so BBQ then café, or coffee first then BBQ for dinner, makes a pretty great course.

They cut the mushrooms into bite-size pieces too ^^ The staff cut the meat to a good size and rotated it around the grill to clear space, then put kimchi, bean sprouts and bracken (gosari, fernbrake) off to one side.

And I added meljeot (salted anchovy dipping sauce) too! The spread on the grill looks great, right? Part of the fun here is just looking at it.

Meat wrap combos and watermelon mul-kimchi at Kkotdwaeji Gumi Main Branch

I took lettuce from the self-serve bar, added well-grilled meat, then ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) and wasabi, and made a wrap!

If you love meat wraps, you can try all sorts of combinations here, so stop by for a meal.

Kkotdwaeji is a BBQ place you have to look up in Gumi. If you like pork belly, you must try it.

Watermelon mul-kimchi (cold kimchi in brine)! I spotted it at the self-serve bar and was curious, so I brought some back, and it was different, in a good way~

I put meat on a perilla leaf, added ssamjang, wasabi and well-grilled bean sprouts, and took a happy big bite.

The meat is great. If you're planning to go to Gumi, definitely visit~ I plan to stop by every time I'm in Gumi, haha

They also had green grape ade, so I ordered one, and wow, the quality~ It was delicious ^^ Ade alongside the meat.

How was the free daechang hotpot?

After we finished the meat at Kkotdwaeji Gumi Main Branch, the daechang hotpot they'd promised as a free service came to the table. Is this really free? It's enormous, and if you just add rice~

On a day you finish work early, go to Kkotdwaeji for a company dinner. If you visit before 5pm and order the gourmet set, this daechang hotpot comes free!

My younger friend who loves daechang said it was really good ^^ I tried the broth too.. top-notch!!!
