Gongju Korean restaurant after the museum, kids welcome: Bapkkot Hana
In short
Bapkkot Hana Pieotne is a hanjeongsik (Korean set-meal) restaurant on Sinwonsa-ro in Gyeryong-myeon, Gongju, Chungnam, picked for the Blue Ribbon Survey two years in a row. After a museum outing with the kids, the writer ordered two minari tteokgalbi (grilled short-rib patty) sets, one soy sauce and one gochujang, at 30,000 won per person, and a baby chair and baby tableware arrived so the child happily ate tteokgalbi with rice. Bapkkot Hana Pieotne is an easy pick in Gongju when you want clean, mild Korean food with children along.

A country-house exterior and garden at the foot of Gyeryongsan

The moment we got out of the car at Bapkkot Hana Pieotne, that countryside feeling was so welcoming. Past the wooden gate is a wide garden with tables perfect for relaxing on a sunny day, and pretty trees — the scent of wood and grass hit me all over again, it was so nice.
Parking at Bapkkot Hana Pieotne: Lots 1 through 3

Bapkkot Hana Pieotne is an easy park-and-eat kind of hanjeongsik place. There's an open-lot-style parking area right in front of the restaurant, and it turned out we'd parked in Lot 1. With Lots 1 through 3, there was never any worry about finding a spot.
Blue Ribbon two years running: inside the dining room

Right as we walked in, I spotted the Blue Ribbon restaurant certification sticker on the counter. Bapkkot Hana Pieotne has made the Blue Ribbon Survey two years in a row, and it had that old-school-yet-clearly-a-good-restaurant kind of atmosphere. This was my first time at a Blue Ribbon hanjeongsik place, so I was extra excited!

Inside, the local-favorite feeling was even stronger. Four-person tables lined up neatly across the wide hall. It was prime lunchtime, so lots of people were already eating, and there was a private room too, but it was in use so I couldn't get a photo! With a room available, this place seems great for small gatherings or family get-togethers too.
Ordering the minari tteokgalbi set in soy sauce and gochujang

Every table had a kiosk installed, but it seemed to be broken and wouldn't turn on, so a staff member brought out a paper menu instead. We ordered one minari (water dropwort) tteokgalbi (grilled beef-rice patties) in soy sauce flavor and one in gochujang flavor — because we wanted to try both, haha 😆
What comes with the hanjeongsik spread

They set out a neat, full hanjeongsik spread for us. With the basic setup came mushroom-thickened doenjang paste, doenjang stew, tasty namul (seasoned vegetable) side dishes, and even a namul pancake — a truly generous table. The namul dishes alone were good enough to finish a whole bowl of rice with, the gochujang tteokgalbi had a nice spicy-salty kick, and the soy sauce tteokgalbi wasn't too salty but had great savory depth — perfect as a rice side dish for the kids!!

Why Bapkkot Hana Pieotne works with kids: baby tableware and mild side dishes
They gave us a set of baby tableware too, so I scooped tteokgalbi onto rice for my child and she ate really well. Even the tofu that came with the tofu-kimchi — I picked out the pieces without kimchi seasoning on them, and she loved it! Thanks to the neat, clean-tasting side dishes, this really felt like a great restaurant to visit with kids.

We started the meal proper with a light sesame-dressed buckwheat noodle starter! The soy sauce tteokgalbi had wonderful depth of flavor, while the gochujang version was punchier, spicy and salty. The mushroom-thickened doenjang paste was especially the kind of thing that makes you eat more rice — spooned over rice it was nutty and clean, and paired so well with the mushroom's texture! 🍄🟫
Final verdict on Bapkkot Hana Pieotne
Today I introduced Bapkkot Hana Pieotne, a Blue Ribbon favorite we stopped by in Gongju. With its farmhouse-style garden and Gyeryongsan mountain view, the place has such a strong countryside feel that it's oddly relaxing — a great hanjeongsik spot to visit whenever you're craving neat, clean Korean food.
