You know those days when you want to feel a little fancy, even without a special occasion? We always end up at the barbecue place near our house with the kids, but this time I wanted to feel like the four of us were out on a date, so I went looking for a good restaurant in Songdo, Pohang.
Let me introduce Plan A Restaurant, a Western-style place where the view alone made everything feel perfect.

If you want an ocean-view seat, book ahead. We went right at opening, and the ocean-view seats were already marked "reserved."

Location and parking
📍 Plan A is on the 4th floor of the same building as The Clover, the place famous for its bingsu (Korean shaved ice), directly across from Songdo Beach, about a 1-minute walk. There's an elevator, so getting up was easy.
🚗 You can park in the spaces in front of the restaurant, and there's a free Pohang city public parking lot behind the building, so parking is no problem at all.
TIP💡 If you're going on a date, for an anniversary, or if the view matters a lot to you, reserve in advance! They hold good seats for reservations, so if you're going to an ocean-view restaurant, book ahead and be the smart one in the group.

Ocean view in Songdo, Pohang: game over 🌊
The restaurant itself got me excited, and the Songdo ocean view from the 4th floor is truly romantic. The tables are spaced widely apart, so you can eat in peace without worrying about the next table.
I came with the kids, so it was a bit far from a real date, but I found myself thinking, "Was the sea in Pohang always this pretty?" Just looking at it lifted my mood, so I ate in a healing frame of mind 🍽️
Plan A menu and prices: what did four people pay?
Plan A serves a wide range, from pasta to steak, pilaf and salads. The four of us ordered three dishes, chop steak, pilaf and carbonara, and spent ₩54,000 in total.
At restaurants the dish names are often hard to figure out (?), but 👍 the menu has photos, so I ordered smoothly on the tablet.

Plan A's carbonara: is it too heavy?
Plan A's carbonara (₩15,000) never got tiring thanks to the salty bacon. I was torn between rosé, aglio olio and tomato, but went with cream, and the sprinkle of cheese powder spread a rich, nutty aroma across the whole table.
The sauce is generous, so I mixed it well with a spoon. I worried it might be too heavy, but the salty bacon pieces here and there kept it from ever getting tiresome!
They say men usually don't like carbonara, but my husband ate it so well, haha 😵💫 so I only got a taste and that was it... Next time we're ordering two!!
Beef pilaf: the number one pick if you go with kids
Plan A's beef pilaf (₩17,000, ordered without chili oil) has thick pieces of the beef used for chop steak, not finely minced meat. If you're visiting with kids, this is the dish I'd recommend first.
Remember the beef pilaf!
I'm not a big pilaf person, but one bite changed my mind. It includes thick chop steak beef rather than minced beef, so I'm praising the quality 👍
The rice alone was delicious, but with a thick piece of beef on top, the juices really burst! You could say it's a dish more about the beef than the pilaf. If you go with kids, order this first, I'd say!
Plan A chop steak 120g: enough for four?
The Plan A chop steak 120g (₩22,000) comes with fresh salad and Cajun fries. But it was a little short for four people, so next time I'll order the 300g.

I ordered the chop steak and it came with ✅ fresh salad and ✅ Cajun fries, so one dish made for a generous meal.
You can choose the meat weight from 120g, 240g or 300g. The 120g portion seemed decent, but it wasn't quite enough for four, so I'm regretting not getting the 300g.. haha
Chop steak stir-fried with cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, bell peppers and more. The sauce wasn't overpowering, and there was a faint smoky grill flavor too. Per-fect. Keep this recommended dish in mind for your Songdo, Pohang meal.
